Well if you listened to Finebaum yesterday...no one cries for the white guy because 195 racists employers will be dying to give him a job while shutting the other two out.

I was able to catch one small piece of his show yesterday and there was a black caller on (I know cause' he said he was black :P ) and Finebaum asked him point blank to tell what he's gone through as a black man and how he's been discriminated against. The caller proceeded to go into the same old list of excuses about how blacks, in general, have been denied opportunities. To his credit, Finebaum called him out on it and said that he's describing the same things PF has gone through in his life and it's time to stop using the same old, tired, lame excuses.

Was that the same caller that claimed there are no blacks employed by the City of Trussville?

I know that's a lie.... I work part time in Trussville and I have quite a few black co-workers.

I think he was talking about the actual municipal offices like city hall, police dept., etc. It was still a ridiculous statement. Vickers said that he had seen blacks working at the Trussville Wendy's and the guy went off.

That's the way it is though. Some black people (not all) have the attitude that the entire world owes them something and everyone is out to get them. I'm not at all racist or anything but I just think that statements like that are ridiculous.

This arguement is old. Maybe I don't see it the way that other communities do, or maybe it is because I am still young (27). In my life I have never seen color. I am not one of those people who says "I'm not racist because I have black friends". I will just tell you that I have friends, no matter what color, that I think are some of the best people I have ever met. Having this conversation with them would make you laugh. They are about as tired of all this kind of talk as we are. I think, as well as they do, that if a person applies themselves the sky is the limit. Nothing in this world is free and nobody deserves a handout. Work hard and you will be rewarded.

Just the opinion of a :corndog:

IT'S TIME TO MAKE A CHANGE !!!! i am tired of the "po' oh us" mentality generated by the minorities of today....get out and get a job, i don't owe you a damn thing.....blacks are just as racist as we are but they are called "activists"....the liberals and the media made the problem and you see how far they have gone with them

....i don't have a problem with blacks who try to do the right thing, but i don't socialize with them.....why?....because i don't have to

Well, being Black myself, I think Jacobs has the right to hire and fire whomever he deems good for the university. But I can't help but feel sad because of some the race related comments on this board. Just because a certain group of indivduals have a problem with certain issues, that in no way should conveyed as being the thought process of minorities as a whole. There are extremist in every ethnic group. So let's not turn this into a racial issue. Cooler heads will prevail. I personally like ORANGE and BLUE people. War Eagle.

i respect what you said, and i respect why you said it,but we did not try to turn this into a racial issue....danley and the provost dude did that....all we are reflecting is a weariness of the race card being played at every damn thing that happens....i think you will see that if a man is passed over or fired because of his skin, that is very wrong.....but every situation is not racism simply because they fired a black dude....one point to ponder: remember the story of the boy who cried wolf?....see the moral of the story

I'll probably stir up a hornets nest with this statement but I don't care because I think I'm right.

I'm gettting sick and tired of race being brought to the front as the key motive every time a black is fired or demoted. :puke: Blacks scream that they are denied equal opportunities and AFTER you hire them, it is virtually impossible to get rid of them IF they are not producing. It actually smells of preferential treatment and I'm tired of discrimination all the way around. I was around in the 50's and 60's and I can tell you that blacks have made giant strides in both this state and this country , but it never seems to be enough to please some of them. I believe in EQUAL opportunity NOT preferential treatment of ANY race! Yes, blacks seem to dominate the intercollegiate athletics scene so maybe whites are being discriminated against in terms of scholly's but IF you were to start recruiting an equal number of white kids, then they would scream discrimination. Otherwise, they claim they are being taken advantage of by the whites in college athletic programs. Damn, I'm glad I got that off my chest! :au:

well said and 100% correct....the biggest discrimination going on in the world today, is the discrimination against the white male.....its funny, because when i was still working i had to attend a diversity training seminar.....the instructor was a black female......the first statement that she made, after introductions, was " the most discriminated against group of people in america is the white male because all the other groups have organizations to protect them and promote them".......that is true and i was flabbergasted after she made that statement.....but, if we organized a group like that,we'd all be labeled racists.....so, i really don't give a damn if they get hired, fired or ran out of town.......i did not used to be this way,but they made me start thinking like this with all the trivial media stunts.......the whole nation (at least the people with a brain) are beginning to reflect these same feelings......shut up,act right and do your job and you won't be fired

Why do people keep bringing Danley up in this race thing. He has said all along that this is a retribution thing. He is not marching. He is not responsible for the local black militia. He, being an AU man, did get spit upon by Jacobs. The situation should have been handled with a little more aplomb.

I agree to holler race everytime something happens is a crock. So take out you frustration against the local black "leaders." Of which Danley is not one.

If there are issues in the athletic dept. that need to be cleaned up, then let Danley speak and clean house. That will be the best thing for AU. But don't throw all blacks into the mix. As more and more blacks take advantage of the education afforded in this country, we see a shift from balck vs. white to me competing with everyone equally.

You better worry about the hispanics if you want a minority to beat up on. Being one who is not politically correct, I too get angry at the so called "black leaders" perpetuating the old saga of po missa black man. But these so called leaders are dying off giveing way to a new era. When they are gone and there is nobody left who marched with Dr. King, then we will see real race relations progress. Dr. King would be very ashamed at many of these people.

you have a very valid and alarming point about the hispanics......the ones that i have been around (in this country and in mexico) are hard working and will work for a lot less than americans will.....i don't begrudge the legal ones, its the ones that are here illegally that i want to eliminate......can anyone tell me why there is not more of an effort to stem the flow of them crossing the border?....I have my own ideas

The only point I was trying to make is WHEN DO WE EVER REACH THE POINT WHEN PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT STOPS and the playing field is level??????? That's what I as a white male am sick and tired of.
