I Like Steve Ensminger Already

Opelika QB Steve Ensminger sounds like my kind of guy. He and Neil Caudle are expected to be the top two QBs in the state next year. Only time will tell. But Steve says schools already showing interest include, Auburn, bama, GA, Fla., Texas, Clemson, Southern Cal, Miami, Michigan and Va. Not bad huh?

But Steve said his top six now are Auburn, Ga., Fla., Southern Cal, Fla., and Texas. he makes no bones what his first choice is......Auburn. Asked about how his dad being TE coach at Auburn might effect his decision, he said "That has no effect on where I go. If my dad happens to go coach somewhere else right now, Auburn would still be my top pick. I like the offense they run and I like the coaches. My dad has nothing to do with it. he can coach wherever he wants to byt Auburn would still be mty top pick." Right now, Caudle is ours to lose so we could end up with the top two QBs in the state next year. That's a year away and who knows but it sure sounds good right now.

Yes it does! In a state where Auburn has had difficulty in recruiting top QB's since the days when Bahr used to sign QB's just to keep them away from AU, it is indeed

nice! How times have changed! A QB is where a team is formed and the next is center. Beyond that, DEFENSE! May the tigers rule the 2000's! WDE!

I'm not disagreeing that we have generally come in second to Bama on recruiting in-state quarterbacks, but can anyone confirm (or refresh my memeory)--Isn't Brandon Cox an exception? Didn't he come out of high school as the top quarterback, if not the top player overall, in the state his senior year? ..just trying to recall.

[And yes, we'll have to wait to see if Cox lives up to the hype this coming season.]

Pat Sullivan :au:

Damyeoune Craig (excuse my spelling) :au:

Pat Nix :au:

Stan White :au:

Were all from the state of Alabama. I would take them over Brodie Croyle, Tyler Watts or Freddie Kitchens.

i've heard that Ensminger is not that good and there is a possiblity that we will not even offer him a scolly-seriously-we will invite him to walk on-I think it was on rivals-just what i heard

I watched him play some as a sophomore and wasn't too impressed. But that was almost 2 years ago, I am sure he's improved. He is tall and seemed to be athletic, so he may end up like the last QB we got out of Opelika HS, as a FS.
