Special Teams

We can't afford to go into the Georgia and Bama games giving up blocked field goals and kick returns like the one at LSU. Several questions....

1)  First and foremost, what's going on? Are these simply player errors? Why is it our offensive line plays well in pass blocking, are improving with run blocking but can't protect the kicker?

2) The special Teams coach..... What's his track record and experience?

3) Are these issues fixable before the Georgia game?

4) What's Fountain up to now a days???????

These issues with special teams need to be fixed tomorrow. It's particularly disturbing because Auburn had great special teams for years but now.....ouch.

Execution.  TAMU outplayed us on those two blocks. The second one, the player came from the edge untouched.  On the kickoff returns, we are so used to Carlson kicking the ball through the end zone, I think we may get a little complacent on staying in lanes and hustling down the field.  All issues can be corrected if coached properly.

the thing I remember most about Fountain was how good our onside kicks were when he was here

Simple, Gus said he was gonna spend more time coaching the special teams.  Practice gimmick trick plays and not fundamentals, has Gus written all over it.
