I'll write someone else in.  I wish the state GOP would coalesce around a specific person for conservatives to write in and educate the public on how to do that over the coming weeks.  Even if it's just to write in Luther Strange or Jeff Sessions and let him finish out the term (which ends in 2020).  I have no particular affection for either of them, but I'm not voting for Moore and just because Jones happens to be standing there doesn't mean I'm casting a vote for a Democrat who is indistinguishable from any Northeast or Left Coast liberal.

Vote for Moore.  He represents Alabama well:

".....Restored to power, Moore used his bully pulpit to pick a fight with the U.S. Supreme Court. He strongly opposes homosexuality; he called it an “inherent evil” in at least one court opinion he wrote as Alabama chief justice. “Homosexual conduct is, and has been, considered abhorrent, immoral, detestable, a crime against nature, and a violation of the laws of nature and of nature’s God upon which this Nation and our laws are predicated,” he added in his concurrence to a unanimous 2002 Alabama Supreme Court decision denying a lesbian’s request to regain custody of her three children. In Moore’s view, federal legal decisions permitting same-sex marriage amount to overreach into state matters. He resisted when a U.S. District judge in Alabama ruled in early 2015 that a state constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage was unconstitutional. And when the U.S. Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage later that year, in Obergefell v. Hodges, Moore directed state judges to ignore the ruling. The Alabama Court of the Judiciary suspended him in September 2016 for the remainder of his term.

But that served only to solidify Moore’s reputation: Among likely candidates for Alabama governor in 2018, polls this year indicated he was the front-runner. Moore’s extreme views turn off many voters, including some Alabama Republicans—he is a gadfly to the chamber of commerce wing of the state GOP. But he can depend on support from at least one-third of Alabama Republicans, according to Larry Powell, a professor of communication studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a political consultant and the author of several books about politics. Moore’s basic message still reflects the core values of most in Alabama, especially in rural counties where he polls best.

Some 86 percent of Alabama residents identify as Christian, and more than three-fourths say religion plays a very important role in their lives, according to 2014 polling for the Pew Research Center. Half of Alabama residents say they are evangelicals; a similar percentage believe the Bible should be taken literally. Support in Alabama for same-sex marriage is the lowest in the country, a mere 32 percent, according to a 2015 survey, and nearly 60 percent of Alabamans say abortion should be illegal in all or most cases...."

I may on may not vote for Moore depending on what happens in this whole mess. But I sure as hell am not going to vote for a leftist Democrat. If Jones was even a moderate I could vote for him but he is what he is.

Proud Tiger,

May I ask just WHAT  you consider "leftist? I'm really not trying to be argumentative or be a schmuck, just really interested in your opinion.  Thanks.

Maybe very liberal on most issues is a better description. Bordering on socialism.

Big on entitlements, open borders, for abortion, etc.  A male Maxine Waters, Michael Moore, etc. No where close to being a typical southern democrat.

That's a distortion of the truth. Supporting a woman's right to choose does not necessarily mean you are "for" abortion.  One can support that right and still be committed to reduce abortions.

(I should mention that I don't know what Jone's specific position is  on the issue. Perhaps someone can inform me.)

Has Jones been silent on this Moore groping issue?

Interesting question. Does anyone even know much about Jones background going back aways?

Born in Fairfield. Blue collar  Got a BS in Poli sci from Alabama, and his JD from Samford.  DA that prosecuted the 16th St Baptist Church bombers. Private practice since leaving the post to today.

No known improprieties. For all intents and purposes a model citizen.

To my knowledge, Jones has offered no specific ideas or proposals to reduce abortions.  His only statements on the matter have been to make sure everyone knows he is adamantly pro-choice.  And believe me, I've looked.  I wanted a viable alternative to Roy Moore long before I found out he was a creeper.

After 37 years of waiting on something to change on Abortion, I just gave up. The Republicans have talked it to death...AND DONE NOTHING. The Dems have talked it to death and done largely the same: Nothing. While i am myself as Pro-Life as it gets, i have come to realize that Abortion is just a $$$ Button the Two Parties Push whenever they need cash.

I’m pro choice and agree 100%. It shouldn’t be a deciding issue in any election.

It’s an absolute deal breaker for me. It’s probably if not the only, one of a few issues I’m an ideologue about. While I won’t vote for a candidate just because said candidate is pro-life, I will find a pro-life candidate that I can support with my vote and write them in.

I'm of the mind that simply saying you are pro-life isn't enough to get my vote.  But digging your heels in and being adamantly pro-choice with no efforts or apparent concern to reduce them is a guaranteed way not to get it.
