I'm saying it now

Gus Malzahn made a believer out of me, which I never thought would happen.   Since the LSU loss, he has performed like a top notch HC.   Well enough that I will be happy for a contract extension, large pay raise and buyout for him, and I will not say another smartass comment about him again.   I  will still criticise him when needed, but Gus Malzahn is my coach from now on.   unfrickingreal

Yup I was firmly on the bus til the LSU collapse when I truly came to think he just didnt get it. Maybe he didnt until then . . . But he has beaten two #1 teams since and we aren't even into the postseason yet.

I have been the proverbial cat at the door when it comes to the Gus bus.  I want in I want out.  After last year's Clemson game I wanted out.  This summer with the hiring of a new OC I wanted in.  After this year's Clemson game, I wanted out.  As the season progressed I considered getting back on until the second half of the LSU game.  When that happened I wanted to be nowhere near the Gus Bus.  After the Georgia game I got closer to the door.  Now I want in again...I only hope he learns to rotate his ribs more.  Do  not go crazy but if he needs a raise and an extension ok but do not go crazy with it.

Actually- he "gussed it up" pretty good tonight a couple times. If we would've lost some of us would've piled on. Not tonight though! Atta boy Gus. Feed me my Crowe now!

some people said gus would throw the game to go to arkie. on this board. getting in a coaches behind for boneheaded coaching but accusing a coach of betraying his players to go to a lesser school is pretty freakin bad. and some said the same thing on another board. i hope gus is forgiving.

“Half of Auburn's SEC Championship Game appearances have occurred with Gus Malzahn as the coordinator (2010) or head coach (2013, 2017)”

like it or not, the guys probably already gonna be on our second best HC ever if they make another title appearance, and if they win...well he’ll certainly be receiving some praise to say the least

He won't. The fanbase was right in critiquing him in the way he was going about things at first. CGM also deserves kudos for learning how to let go and be an HC. You have to trust and I think he has finally learned how. He has done all we asked and now it is time for us to return the favor. You cannot accept flaws to easily or else you end up like Texas A&M, but you cannot be too quick to be stubborn or else you end up like Tennessee. Healthy expectations are key but realistically is even better. Not calling you out at all. Just saying the majority of the fanbase fit the bell curve with outliers from both sides on the tail ends.

I'll take some more of that crow I ate after the uga game. Turns out Gus was right when he said the loss to lsu was not the end of the world. He held the team together and they got better. I don't know who done what, who's calling plays or not but what the coaches are doing is working for me. I'll say that if KJ can not play in the sec championship game and we win anyway, Gus has done a great job. Let me change that, just getting us there has been a great job.

I like the Gus we have seen since LSU very much.  Against UGA (especially) and spuat this season, Gus finally indicated that he understands that those two games are not like the rest.  Yes, Gus has earned our respect this season.

Ik and have been saying LSU changed him. People said repeatedly that Gus would have to prove to them he had changed while still criticizing him. LSU game turned Gus into a better coach.

Random question - I totally believe LSU did that, BUT did the announcement of JJ leaving assist with that as well?

Yeah, Gus seems to have learned a valuable lesson against LSU.  He has opened up the offense and hasn't backed off in the 2nd half in any game since.  He has also started using the middle of the field more, and that has opened up the passing game a little more, especially on 3rd downs.

He has won me back over as well. He seems more loose, it appears he’s letting his coaches coach, and he’s not taking his foot off the gas. He’s now had enough ups and downs that hopefully he will know how to be the CEO of an elite football program.

All that being said, I wouldn’t blame him if he left, we are borderline crazy and the stress is high.
