Auburn Football Review

Speaking of the review, I miss the days of Shug where it lasted an hour and was more akin to film study. He would comment on each play shown and go in-depth with some off-the-cuff remarks also. Today's version is just copied from the broadcast and is more like a video of your son's HS highlight tape where you show nothing but the good plays. They treat the viewers like we're not able to handle seeing LSU make the game-winning FG,  for example.

It's too watered down and tailored for the sensitive crowd.

"You're so right, Carl."

My dad talks about those too.  I grew up on the Pat Dye show which was similar, though condensed to 1/2 hour and only showed the highlight type plays, but still was full of break down and comments.  Several are on YouTube...the '86 IB is my favorite.

I grew up watching Shug say "you are so right Carl" every Sunday on the Auburn Football Review. Thoses were the days. The Auburn Football Review of today is just a shell of what it used to be.  The same can be said for Tiger Talk.

Used to watch Shug, then Dye (honestly do not remember the show with Barfield and I'm not trying to be funny), then Bowden and Tuberville. I liked the studio show better before they started filming on the field after the game. I used to record them all the way through Bowden but stopped because they just aren't that interesting any longer. I must admit, getting older has it's advantages and disadvantages but nostalgia is both. You fondly remember certain times but then you realize that it's not going to ever be that good again.

Especially liked the 1972 Iron Bowl when the Bear had to follow the Auburn Football Review with Coach Jordan....saw the game replayed twice...or may I say the 2 blocked punts...PUNT BAMA PUNT!!!

Before 'Tiger Talk' it was called 'Dialing Dye.'

I remember the Barfield shows, also. After a loss, it seemed you could barely see his eyes and forehead peering from behind the studio table..lol

That was especially nice since the game wasn't televised that year. I laugh when I hear people say, "I remember watching the game on tv....."

Negative.

I've never even seen a video of that game.  Did have a cassette tape of the FG and punt blocks with radio though.  I know there has to be video of it somewhere, but I think it's a concerted Bammer effort to keep it out of circulation.

Watching Gus on there is just painful. It feels like a student who has no desire being in a women’s studies class but he’s already paid for the course.

Have fun with it, slip some interesting tidbits in there. Say something a little exciting and throw a little shade if you have to. Entertain!
