Shake up the OL

When Driscoll and wanogho went out, the last few drives, except for the strip sack, I thought looked good in terms of opening up holes for the run game. Sharp, Troxell, and Ashley I thought played well save for a few plays. Ashley looks good.

I just wonder if a complete shake up on the OL wouldn’t somehow give us more consistency. What you think? I think we oughtta take a risk and throw some other bodies in there.

How much of that was fatigue setting in on the So. Miss defense?

I’m no coach. Did we recruit the right type of OL for our offense? I’ve read where one of the things DCs are doing to combat the RPO offense is recruit smaller quicker defenders. Our OL seems SO SLOW. Are defenses catching up and Gus is a step behind?

I'm guessing yes. Since about KSU in 2014.

I did think it was an effort thing on the OL but they showed them on the sideline in 4th Q and I don’t think that’s the case. They looked dog tired and had that bewildered look like the rest of us. Everyone talks about JS not fitting this offense. I think maybe the OL too

I saw them too, and I felt bad. It was a looooong day and they clearly struggled. They looked completely demoralized and totally exhausted. That was very evident in their demeanor.  They know their performance was not up to par

The coaches need to do better by them.

When you think about it, it's not surprising our OL is a huge eyesore. Prince Tema played what, one, no more than two years of HS football and is now trying to learn on the job at LT.

Harrell has seemed to digress in his second season as a starter.

First Kim and now Braham at center. Neither seem to be that fire in his belly leader needed at the all important center ost.

Mike Horton is Marquel Harrell under another name

Last but certainly not least Jack Driscoll previously played at UMASS. Need I say  more.

And to add insult to injury, our QB is not playing anything like he's capable.

There don't appear to be any quick fixes. So passengers, please move to the lifeboats in an orderly fashion.

20 Combined SEC starts on the OL entering the year......

With that VERY inexperienced OL, we've played so far:

The #9, #17 and #38 ranked teams in total defense

The #4 and #11 teams in Pass Yards Allowed

The #7, #9 and #45 ranked teams in Rush D

The #4(Tied, with bammer, we are #3), #15 and #21 teams in Scoring D

And a Hog team that is pretty clearly on a mission to improve every week.

Just sayin' that there are two teams on the field, and they mighta had jes a li'l to do with our abysmal O performances.

Bammer is ranked in the 20's (or worse) in all but Scoring D against a cupcake schedule, for reference.

MSU ranks pretty high in all D categories as well, so a 3-2 rerun might not be out of the question next week. I'd take it and leave Starkville smiling from ear to ear.

Stid definitely has a case of happy feet. He is moving around at times when he should be setting up and throwing. At least two of the false starts tonight looked to be on our brand new C not snapping the ball when he was supposed to. Both of those are eminently fixable. I'm not giving up on this season yet......

I kept my eye on Ashley when he went in at RT. He has quicker feet than some of the others, was aggressive and did a pretty decent job. Maybe he is ready. But as a whole, the OL seems to lack aggressiveness and there doesn't appear to be a leader out there. The leader of the OL has been very obvious in the past.

This. Even when they do create a pocket he starts running around like a giraffe that just came out of the womb

Mutliple plays where the center was pushed backwards again against southern miss. Kim may actually be better... and that is not good. The guards are playing terrible.  Only bright spots were the tackles and now they’re both hurt. We are in deep trouble. Unless we change the playcalling to easy throws and unless JS becomes more accurate, ms st is going to eat us alive. The dl is their strongest unit. We may be looking at a Clemson type game from last year.

The coaches MUST change the play calling to fast easy throws. And if that does not work we are in deep trouble.

At least we have a defense!

When has he been hit...  what 4 times this year.

The fumble was strictly coaching.  There was ZERO reason to call a bomb when you have Bailey Sharp protecting your blind side.   Help him out,  call a quicker throw.  Our pass plays are slow to develop and there is no reason for it.

Lindsey needs to watch NFL or Bama for goodness sakes and understand a passing offense
