Auburn was led by freshman Anastasia Makarova who swept both breaststroke events. She won the 100 breaststroke in a personal best time of 1:00.41. That time places her tied for 36th in the NCAA this season. She won the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:14.20. 

Looks like Anastasia is already our best swimmer winning some races as a Freshman. If she can get back to her 2019 form she might win some championships...

I saw something out there that one of our coaches races a 500 with Katie Ledecky and Calaeb Dressel at the meet.  He lost of course haha

While we are no place near where we used to be in swimming it seems like we are becoming more relevant then in the past. We have a decent class coming in next year so I am hoping that our new coach really has us working our way up in the SEC swimming hierarchy.

Middle of the pack.  That's better than the bottom.  Keeping working the way up.

The Tigers finished 29th overall with 22 points, securing the program's highest finish at NCAAs since 2018. 

First time the men have scored at NCAA's in 3 years.

Hoping we are making the turn.

Not AU related but potentially SEC related:

Emma Weyant (UVA, Olympic silver medalist and three years of eligibility left) has entered the transfer portal. According to some online rumors, she could transfer to Florida.

Landing someone like Emma could boost our swimming program tremendously (Suni-Effect)... I hope we are recruiting her.

I think she will sign with Florida (her bf is a Gator and she follows UF Swimming on IG). Florida's recruiting is pretty strong since they have a new HC and added Katie Ledecky to the staff. They currently have the #1 2023 recruits (Bella Sims and Scott Buff) committed along with many other top swimmers. I don't think they have great facilities, its all coaching and the Gator brand of course. We mostly added Int. swimmers in order to stay somewhat competitive, because all the top Atlanta area & regional swimmers signed with other schools (UVA (!), Kentucky, NC State, etc). We only signed one top swimmer (Russian Daniil Markov who ranks #16 overall and is a borderline 5-star talent).

We really need to land someone like Weyant and add famous assistant coaches/former Olympic swimmers to the staff who can help us with recruiting.

Btw, UGA just lost the world's top talent after only one semester: South African Matt Sates is leaving NCAA and signed with a pro team recently.
