Popular Post Zeek 16,649
Going to try and make this a running thread with additions, departures, and updates on how form Auburn players are doing elsewhere. This will be an ongoing list, so let me know if there is someone missing or something is slightly off. It is a hard thing to track accurately at times. See the key below to understand what the different colors mean. Transferred In Transferred Out Signed out of high school Signed out of Junior College Walk-On (non-scholarship) Quarterback (4 Scholarship & 2 Walk-Ons) #1 TJ Finley - Jr. - 6'7" 250 lbs. #10 Zach Calzada - RS So. - 6'4" 208 lbs. #9 Robby Ashford - RS Fr. - 6'3" 212 lbs. #12 Holden Geriner - Fr. - 6'3" 212 lbs. #13 Trey Lindsey - Sr. - 6'1" 200 lbs. #20 Sawyer Pate - So. - 6'1" 215 lbs. Caylin Newton -> Transfer Portal Dematrius Davis -> Alabama State Bo Nix -> Oregon Spoiler Two transferred out, two transferred in, and we signed a high school recruit. Overall I would say Calzada + Ashford + Geriner > Nix + Davis. At the very least, we broke even in terms of average. We don't have a 2023 QB committed, which frustrates me a little bit. I don't see a scenario where all four scholarship quarterbacks return next year. It is more than likely someone transfers out for more playing time. Running Back (5 Scholarship 2 Walk-Ons) #4 Tank Bigsby - Jr. - 6'0" 213 lbs. #27 Jarquez Hunter - So. - 5'10" 202 lbs. #24 Jordon Ingram - So. - 6'1" 209 lbs. #44 Sean Jackson - RS Fr. - 5'9" 230 lbs. #22 Damari Alston - Fr. - 5'9" 209 lbs. #35 Justin Jones - Jr. - 6'1" 195 lbs. #36 Luke Reebals - Fr. - 5'10" 182 lbs. Shaun Shivers -> Indiana Spoiler Lost one singed one. I think Alston will be a better overall back than Shivers was for us, so we got an upgrade here. Especially considering how many years we'll have with Alston vs. how many Shivers has left. Auburn currently has 4* Jeremiah Cobb committed but is looking for a second back. It is widely believed Tank won't return next year and will instead opt out of his senior season. This would leave Auburn with only two legitimate ball carriers in Alston and Hunter; both of which have much to prove against top-tier competition. Wide Receiver (12 Scholarship 6 Walk-Ons) #11 Shedrick Jackson - Sr. - 6'2" 202 lbs. #6 Ja'Varrius Johnson - Jr. - 5'10" 160 lbs. #16 Malcolm Johnson Jr. - Jr. - 6'1" 195 lbs. #80 Ze'Vian Capers - Jr. - 6'4" 192 lbs. #0 Koy Moore - So. - 6'1" 192 lbs. #8 Dazalin Worsham - So. - 6'1" 177 lbs. #14 Landen King - So. - 6'5" 220 lbs. #81 J.J. Evans - So. - 6'2" 218 lbs. #3 Tar'Varish Dawson Jr. - RS Fr. - 5'10" 161 lbs. #5 Jay Fair - Fr. - 5'10" 181 lbs. #17 Camden Brown - Fr. - 6'3" 202 lbs. #19 Omari Kelly - Fr. - 6'0" 176 lbs. #30 Tommy Nesmith - Sr. - 6'0" 180 lbs. #32 Trent Mason - Jr. - 6'1" 187 lbs. #28 Jackson Billings - So. - 5'10" 182 lbs. #82 Jake Kruse - RS Fr. - 5'10" 170 lbs. #83 Colby Stafford - Fr. - 5'11" 176 lbs. #89 Whit Johnson - Fr. - 6'1" 193 lbs. Elijah Canion -> Purdue Kobe Hudson -> UCF Demetris Robertson -> exhausted eligibility Spoiler Moore + Worsham + Fair + Brown + Kelly = Canion + Hudson Robertson. This is a hard one to judge. Once we know how these guys pan out, it'll be a little easier to understand. From a sheer numbers standpoint, it is an improvement. Keeping J-Johnson and Shedrick is also a win. Auburn has one 4* WR committed and will likely land another this week. I would still like to see us sign one more high school kid. My theory is that at least one of the juniors will transfer out if they don't receive a lot of targets this season. Ja'Varrius, Malcolm, Ze'Vian, and JJ have to be filling like it's now or never with our program. We will likely take at least one transfer wide receiver as well. Tight End (5 Scholarship 2 Walk-On) #25 John Samuel Shenker - Sr. - 6'4" 250 lbs. #85 Tyler Fromm - Jr. - 6'5" 243 lbs. #86 Luke Deal - Jr. - 6'5" 257 lbs. #87 Brandon Frazier - Jr. - 6'7" 262 lbs. #84 Micah Riley-Ducker - Fr. - 6'5" 258 lbs. #47 Grant Hidalgo - So. - 6'5" 242 lbs. #35 Camden Etheredge - Fr. - 6'0" 204 lbs. Spoiler Didn't lose any of our TEs but gained MRD. I am concerned by the number of TEs entering their junior year but we'll see if the staff can keep them all together. One has to think a guy like Frazier might try the portal if he continues to not see the field. Deal has already said he'll return next year and I think Fromm might get more attention soon. We need to sign at least one high school TE in this class. Doesn't seem like we're leading for any right now unfortunately. A big part of roster management is staggering the depth chart. Meaning, ideally, you have a senior/junior/sophomore/freshman at each position. Tight End is one where the new staff inherited a big group in the same class. That can be great while they're here but a nightmare once they depart. If Harsin and crew can land a solid TE int his 2023 class we will be on our way to a much better managed position group. Offensive Line (15 Scholarship 3 Walk-On) #50 Jalil Irvin - Sr. - 6'3" 313 lbs. #52 Nick Brahms - Sr. - 6'4" 300 lbs. #55 Brenden Coffey - Sr. - 6'7" 293 lbs. #62 Kameron Stutts - Sr. - 6'5" 339 lbs. #65 Alec Jackson - Sr. - 6'5" 321 lbs. #68 Austin Troxell - Sr. - 6'7" 309 lbs. #71 Brandon Council - Sr. - 6'4" 328 lbs. #77 Kilian Zierer - Sr. - 6'7" 312 lbs. #54 Tate Johnson - Jr. - 6'4" 285 lbs. #58 Keiondre Jones - Jr. - 6'4" 340 lbs. #76 Jeremiah Wright - Jr. - 6'5" 335 lbs. #57 Avery Jernigan - So. - 6'4" 310 lbs. #69 Colby Smith - RS Fr. - 6'8" 324 lbs. #74 Garner Langlo - RS Fr. - 6'6" 300 lbs. #56 E.J. Harris - Fr. - 6'5" 312 lbs. #64 Cort Bradley - RS Fr. - 6'3" 293 lbs. #74 Thomas Kirkham - RS Fr. - 6'4" 293 lbs. #78 Evan Richards - Fr. - 6'4" 313 lbs. Brodarious Hamm -> Baltimore Ravens Tashawn Manning -> Kentucky Spoiler Brodarious Hamm was our only real departure. I have no clue how we only signed one offensive lineman in last year's class. We currently only have one committed right now as well. Eight seniors are scary for next season. I would have taken a chance on a guy or two just for numbers. We need at least 4 more OL signed in this class, coupled with a transfer or two. The staff must also go hard on guys who might have a bonus COVID year to take advantage of next season. I would sign a minimum of 4 OL every class for the next few t Edge (3 Scholarship 1 Walk-On) #29 Derick Hall - Sr. - 6'3" 256 lbs. #55 Eku Leota - Sr. - 6'4" 257 lbs. #39 Dylan Brooks - RS Fr. - 6'4" 232 lbs. #28 Hayden Brice - Sr. - 6'3" 226 lbs. Caleb Johnson -> Transfer Portal TD Moultry -> pros Spoiler Not signing an edge out of high school last year was stupid. The good news is we have two signed in this upcoming class and are looking for even more. I expect we'll also see the staff pursue a transfer target at this position. Joko Willis is being transitioned to edge, too, if he can pack on the needed weight. Defensive Line (12 Scholarship 3 Walk-Ons) #98 Marcus Bragg - Sr. - 6'5" 262 lbs. #92 Marquis Burks - Sr. - 6'3" 302 lbs. #91 Morris Joseph Jr. - Sr. - 6'2" 281 lbs. #3 Zykeivous Walker - Jr. - 6'4" 304 lbs. #25 Colby Wooden - Jr. - 6'5" 284 lbs. #50 Marcus Harris - Jr. - 6'3" 294 lbs. #96 Garrison Walker - Jr. - 6'1" 288 lbs. #99 Jayson Jones - So. - 6'6" 328 lbs. #5 Jeffrey M'ba - So. - 6'6" 313 lbs. #48 Marquis Robinson - RS Fr. - 6'3" 310 lbs. #58 Tobechi Okoli - RS Fr. - 6'5" 272 lbs. #90 Enyce Sledge - Fr. - 6'3" 315 lbs. #97 Jackson Kelly - RS Fr. - 6'3" 262 lbs. #93 Joe Frazier Jr. - 5'11" 276 lbs. #94 Godwin Owalbi - RS Fr. - 6'2" 300 lbs. Ian Matthews -> Mizzou Lee Hunter -> UCF Daniel Foster-Allen -> South Alabama Dre Butler -> Liberty Tyrone Truesdell -> Kentucky Spoiler Somehow we lost five and added five but still came out on top. Jayson Jones, Jeffrey M'ba, Morris Joseph, and Marcus Bragg will all have an instant impact. We will lose a number of guys across the defensive line. Need this to be a solid defensive line class. The good news is Jones and M'ba have a lot of eligibility left. Keeping Marquis Robinson was huge too. Linebacker (9 Scholarship 4 Walk-On) #0 Owen Pappoe - Sr. - 6'1" 225 lbs. #9 Eugene Asante - Jr. - 6'1" 216 lbs. #13 Cam Riley - Jr. - 6'5" 230 lbs. #30 Desmond Tisdol - Jr. - 6'0" 234 lbs. #32 Wesley Steiner - Jr. - 6'0" 237 lbs. #46 Jake Levant - So. - 6'1" 224 lbs. #33 Joko Willis - So. - 6'3" 212 lbs. #17 Robert Woodyard Jr. - Fr. - 6'0" 245 lbs. #31 Powell Gordon - Fr. - 6'2" 228 lbs. #12 Sammy Cohen - Sr. - 6'1" 230 lbs. #41 Jonathan LeGrand - Jr. - 6'1" 215 lbs. #43 Kameron Brown - Jr. - 6'0" 238 lbs. #51 Barton Lester - Sr. - 6'3" 216 lbs. Zakoby McClain -> NFL Chandler Wooten -> NFL Corner Back (7 Scholarship) #18 Nehemiah Pritchett - Sr. - 6'1" 182 lbs. #4 DJ James - Jr. - 6'1" 174 lbs. #36 Jaylin Simpson - Jr. - 6'1" 178 lbs. #6 Keionte Scott - So. - 6'0" 185 lbs. #15 A.D. Diamond - RS Fr. - 6'0" 161 lbs. #8 Austin Ausberry - Fr. - 6'0" 203 lbs. #23 J.D. Rhym - Fr. - 6'1" 181 lbs. Dreshun Miller -> NC State Ro Torrence -> Arizona State Roger McCreary -> NFL Safeties (6 Scholarship 5 Walk-On) #10 Zion Puckett - Jr. - 6'0" 227 lbs. #24 Craig McDonald - So. - 6'2" 204 lbs. #1 Donovan Kaufman - So. - 5'10" 205 lbs. #27 Marquise Gilbert - So. - 6'2" 178 lbs. #20 Cayden Bridges - RS Fr. - 6'2" 202 lbs. #21 Caleb Wooden - Fr. - 6'1" 188 lbs. #26 Tony Hunley Jr. - Jr. - 5'9" 171 lbs. #38 Greg McConico Jr. - Jr. - 5'10" 181 lbs. #47 Mac McClinton - Fr. - 5'8" 180 lbs. #40 John Reese Bellew - So. - 6'1" 204 lbs. #45 Paul Thompson Jr. - Fr. - 6'0" 195 lbs. Long Snapper (no idea who is on scholarship) #67 Jacob Quattlebaum - Sr. - 6'1" 229 lbs. #61 Reed Hughes - So. - 6'1" 231 lbs. #42 Kyle Vaccarella - RS Fr. - 6'3" 226 lbs. Kicker (2 Scholarship 1 Walk-On) #26 Anders Carlson - Sr. - 6'5" 215 lbs. #38 Alex McPherson - Fr. - 5'9" 150 lbs. #93 Evan McGuire - So. - 6'5" 223 lbs. Ben Patton -> Michigan State Punter (1 Scholarship 2 Walk-On) #91 Oscar Chapman - Jr. - 6'3" 202 lbs. #39 Marshall Myers - So. - 5'8" 205 lbs. #37 Daniel Perez - Fr. - 5'11" 183 lbs. Assuming one of the Long Snappers has a scholarship, that puts us up at 82 scholarship players with three open spots remaining that we can either keep empty for now or hand out to a walk-on player. I believe that I have everyone please let me know if I forgot a transfer or player that graduated last year. The Harsin staff has actually done a pretty solid job at getting our roster managed to a more reasonable structure. However, OL and TE are still positions that concern me a little bit. Linebacker is also a work in progress. This 2023 class is so pivotal and how the OL situation is handled will determine a whole awful lot. 6

fredst 9,064
Man, if we could somehow get the OL right after several years of scraping by with transfers and JUCO (looks like that’s our best chance for numbers again this year), we might finally see a balanced, well-managed roster

Thanks for all you do 2

au302 2,669
As the On3 guys have said, you have to pull from HS, JUCO, and portal ranks for this coming OL class. The HS guys become developmental players next year, the JUCO's fill your two deep, and the portal guys will start. That's the only way to re-balance that room and avoid being in this position in 4 years. If we take 7+ HS players, we'll be right back here in 4 years

roe4christ 940
Edge is a concern for sure. For this year, if Hall or Leota get hurt, we only have Brooks as a back-up. Both are Seniors also, so only Brooks will be returning. We have to add for next year and I think that is a focus right now. Pray for no injuries in this position group this year.

Only 2 in the top 200 overall and both are past 160. Don't get me wrong we have a few good players, but nothing amazing. Especially considering the recruiting across the rest of the league. And only 7 commits. Only 1 OL. No LB.

I'm not happy with the number we have, but trying to discount the ones we do doesn't make any sense. We have a really high quality group of kids committed. 7
keesler 5,924
There’s plenty of time, it’s onlyAugust. There are still guys that haven’t committed and there will be flips once the W’s pile up.

A very small amount of above average kids isn't good.

Recruiting under Harsin thus far has not been great. I'm not sure how that's even debatable. We could easily disagree on how we think recruiting will go from here. But so far, it's discouraging. Even Bama recruits are only recruits. To call them more than that is only Crimson colored glasses.
fredst 9,064
A little sustained success would do wonders. *So*many negatives AU has been battling the past two years: a new coach with (supposedly) poor relational skills and no regional ties, COVID recruiting that made recruiting much harder for a new staff, a losing streak that was a combination of bad luck/injuries/questionable coaching, and finally an off-season drama that only Auburn could manufacture. The recruiting struggles are hardly surprising at this point. It just feels like if we could break out of the gate fast and catch some breaks we could really turn a corner…..on the other hand, it could go way south really quickly….it seems like the program is on a knifes edge right now. Or, to sum it up, typical Auburn football

autan 737
I thought Kameron Brown was a scholarship player, but maybe he was an invited walkon. I defer to Zeek with the inside info.

Pretty telling you try and throw shade on a post defending Auburn commits. Again, great support. 4
