Each one of these programs has an elite coach.  At least 7 of these programs are coached by a current or future Hall of Fame caliber coach. Katie Meier at Miami, Kim Mulkey at LSU, Lisa Bluder at Iowa, Jeff Walz at Louisville, Brenda Freese at Maryland, Dawn Staley at South Carolina, & Geno at UConn.  At least four head coaches with their teams in the Sweet 16 spent time playing or working for a Hall of Fame coach. Jeff Walz was once an assistant to Brenda Freese at Maryland, Ohio State coach Kevin McGuff earned his first HC job after spending 6 years as an assistant to former Notre Dame coach Muffet McGraw, & Tennessee HC Kelly Harper played for legendary coach Pat Summit.

I really hope Johnnie proves to be the answer at Auburn.  We can't continue to make excuses about the state of the program and the ability to recruit at a high level at Auburn. This list of 16 teams is full of schools with less basketball success in their past than Auburn. Many are at a disadvantage due to their recruiting footprint.  Some simply have nowhere near the resources or facilities that Auburn has.

Make no mistake, the majority of the programs listed above are the product of the coach at the top.  There are exceptions, like Tennessee and Notre Dame, but even they have coaches that played for legendary coaches at the school where they are now the HC.

Lsu winning the whole thing.  At least they are my pick.  But they have the red hot Miami team with the Cavinder twins.  They've played really well.  Ohio State beat UConn to advance to Elite 8
