Offense's biggest fear

The 30 yard line... I mean God.... F'n Horrible. What was it - like 4 or 5 times during the game, we reach the 30 and turn it over or have a false start, then turn it over after the false start.

Also, I believe everyone wanted #12 as our QB last year.... well I hope you got what you wanted. He is possibly the worst QB to ever exist. I been saying it for two dang years that he would be a 4th quarter INT kind of qb. All you gotta do is rush him and he's HORRIBLE!! Apparently I'm the smartest guy ever, I just wish I wasn't sometimes. Accurate QB... too bad its accurate to both teams. And what's with him not hiking the ball (at the 30)?

And Gibbs... could you be worse of a DC? Who the hell keeps Stanley and Quentin out for the vast majority of the game? I don't care if they were running or not... but when both are out for like almost every play - it's ridiculous. What has Crowder (sp?) EVER done to deserve that much playing time.

I though Chris Browder played a pretty good game, heard his name called alot...

178142

The game that hurt us the most today was Reggie Ball getting time in the pocket to throw. Also, letting Reggie run wild on that naked boot leg of his. I recall having Quentin out there on one boot leg and he ran Ball down and Ball threw the ball away. When Stanley was out there, Reggie got sacked. Granted I know Stanley isn't the best run stopper, but he and Quentin will actually pressure the QB. Browder rushed the QB like once and it actually worked when Pitts got the INT.

It was a team loss, lets just look foward to next week. Its not the end of the world, we still have 10 more games to go at least. War Eagle. Cheer up. I know it stings.

Spoken like a true New Yorker....right out of your ass. And NO, you are not the smartest guy ever. Go back and look at the game again....Oh never mind, you wouldn't know what you were looking at. Cox played a darn good game for the cards he was given. Even Tubs said he didn't need to carry the team. then he commenced at dumping the whole thing on his shoulders. This was a total offensive loss. If not for Cox, it would have been MUCH worse.

Whoever made the call during the first half to go for it instead of kicking the field goal when the game was still early needs to be fired. The crowd was not into the game in the beggining or the end. We allowed Ball to have way to much time and could not stop P.J. Daniels for anything.

If it would have come down to 3 points I maight agree with you, but this game was lost on the field pure and simple - our O-line couldn't block for crap, and we had 5 - yes that's right 5 second half turnovers. Blame the line, blame the QB, whatever, but this was not a coaching loss.

We had the momentum and would have tied it up, but we went for it and didn't make it and lost all the momentum. We also had lots of chances to score, but we just didnt get done. GTech and their fans wanted it more than us. The crowd did not get into like the LSU and Georgia games and we deserved to lose. Our coaches let us down by not getting us prepared. Also did anyone else notice they stopped playing those clips that say get loud or make noise. Instead of getting the crowd into it with playing those on big 3rd downs they played like recyling comericals and other stuff. We just did not come to play plain and simple and we better get it together before the Tuberville gets called out again.

Hard to distinguish, actually. Coaching decisions put the game on the shoulders of a first-time QB playing against a strong defense on national TV with little effort to establish a running game. He actually didn't play that bad, considering.

What? It takes two to tango. You have 44 pass attempts (for your new QB) and only 19 rush attempts behind your "veteran" line, and you say coaching had nothing to do with it? Come on, man. Look at you lack of logic in that. Not only that, but they kept the SLOWEST RB in the game the most. I guess they were hoping for some of that Alabama magic to hit him again. This is exactly the type game that I would tend to lay at the coaches feet. They have a tremendous amount of talent at their fingertips, they just used it improperly. The offense will get better and the coaches will understand what they have better. Its just gonna take some time.

Good point, and you will notice I also blamed our line - they sucked just as bad as Cox did.

All we did was move the ball up and down the fild after the first quarter, only to come away with 14 points. It will get better!!!!!!!!! We just came off of 15 straight wins and an SEC title and we can still make a run at the SEC.............It is way to early to tell what this team will be like. NEXT WEEK IS HUGE in the minds of these players. A good performance and win in the SEC can help a lot. Keep your heads up, guys and gals!!!!!

We could be from the Gulf Coast!!!!!!!!! Keep the faith! At least we can say we went 13-0!!!!!!!

When I think about it, Chiziks defense didn't look that grand in his first game as our OC, they had that out of place look and feel. Lets not forget two words from that season also....... Fred Tally. But I am dissappointed with the sluggishness of our defense tonight.

Fred Tally didn't play for USC though.

I think your missing what I am talking about, players lining up and being in the right place before the snap and not looking comfortable with their responsibilities in a new system. Several times you saw players pointing and rushing to get in place before the snap of the ball. Lining up on your responsiblities is the same no matter the caliber of your opponent. That comes down to knowing and being comfortable with your role and responsiblities.

But ok, lets say that is, it was Carson Palmer and the Colisium so we couldn't line up right. Arkansas was at home and his defense had the same problem, matter fact the situation was worse.

Riiiiiiiiiight  Cox.... darn good game. I bet you thought Oklahoma had a good game against USC in the Orange Bowl too. H  w can you say 5 TO's is a good game? The kid had a great 2nd and some 3rd quarter game. He couldn't do crap the other 50% of the game. I don't care if his protection from the O-Line was bad or not. I didn't see Jason struggle that much when blitzed at. Maybe it's cuz Cox is young - or it could be that he has no scrambling ability. Cox is AWESOME when he has PERFECT protection. But an O-Line can only block so many people. The O-Line gave him great protection for the most part of the game. Basically every play they messed up, Cox threw an INT or fumbled. Yea, blame the OL, but what QB turns it over EVERY TIME the OL screws up? I've never heard of such a thing.

You sir are an idiot. You must have watched a different game than most of us. I saw a young man throwing the ball just before he got hit and completing most of them. That does not constitute perfect protection. He was being harrassed all night long, yet STILL completed his passes. At some point the odds catch up to a team. And if you are relying on Tre Smith to "create" a ground game, then you are asking for fourth quarter problems. Bad game plan by the coaches. Cox is a star in the making. Many fans I talked to from other teams that watched our game, felt as though we will only get better and that Cox will be the reason. So take your chicken little, the sky is falling, BC sux attitude and check it. We've already established you are NOT the smartest person in the world. Please don't compound the issue.

Don't forget that Jason had some ugly  games early in his career and turned out to be pretty damn good!

178406

Well, the people that are whining right now do forget that. And the funny thing is most of them whined when JC was earning his stripes as an SEC QB. There's no pleasing them, as they are all knowing, former all-pro, all-world QB's that never had an incomplete pass or interception that was their fault in Div 6C JV football. They are only critical of the mistakes that were made by young, first time starters (in the SEC, this ain't the PAC 10) and refuse to look at the positive side that dictates the future.

I never put down Jason Campbell cuz I saw the potential. The OL was horribled at first and he still did well. Plus it was under Nall ball.

And BTW... when I said I was the smartest man - I was being exaggerative to the fact that 1) I called Jason Campbell for Heisman campaign before the 2004 season started (in fact it was 2003) 2) Everything that Brandon did (completed passes, driving down the field then not get the job done, INTs, being pressured, 4th quarter INTs, etc) I called it. What you said about the OL is exactly right. The OL will miss blocks - it's part of the game. But every missed block, the QB has to make something happen SOME OF THE TIME. But he never made 1 play on a missed block. And you don't turn it over EVERY time. Brandon only completes passes to Auburn receivers with perfect protection and that is uncalled for.
