Offensive play calling?

We only ran the ball a total of 23 times(that even includes the 4 times that brandon got sacked). Tre Smith did not look good at all. He had one good carry but the others weren't good. I don't understand why we didn't play Irons. He was the best back in the spring and the fall scrimmages yet he only got one carry? It seems to me that the coaches were being to loyal to smith. He's had one good game his entire career. I think that put a lot of pressure on Cox, who had a decent game. He came up and made some great passes but when he gets flustered he can't just throw it in the middle of the field, especially when we are in field goal range.

Also, what happened to the offense that we saw a year ago? Why was there not any pre-snap motion? We saw all kinds of changes in the formations last season and that was absent from last nights game. I thought that was good for the offense last season. I didn't understand why we didn't do any of it.

For what it's worth, Brandon threw for 342 yards and two TD's. He played a good game aside from the INT's. I know they were very important and played a big role in the loss, but we can't put the loss on him. This was his first start ever and he did well but I think they put too much of the load on him.

overall I was very dissapointed in the game because we didn't run the ball enough to have a balanced offense. When your tailbacks only combine for 19 carries, you have a problem.

War Eagle, lets focus on beating MSU!

What happened. We lost: Jason, Ronnie and Caddy. How silly does everyone who thought that there would be no drop-off, after losing your entire backfield in the first rould of the NFL draft (that means you too Tubby), feel now???

BC played well for his first start and little support outside of his WRs. If you can't block, you can't run. Our OL could not hold a block to save BC's life.

I can give Brandon a break on one of those INT's. The one where his arm was hit during his motion. He didn't look all that bad. We certainly had our chances to win the game.

Penalties were a huge problem, especially false start calls.

Tre had a couple good runs were he got the corner. Irons should have played more.

Our O-line had better step up in the coming weeks, because as our future opponents study (and "study" is a loose term b/c anyone could see it) the films from last night, we're gonna get blitzed alot on this year - we couldn't stop it to save our lives.

Our offense was fine yesterday. I had nothing to complain about the play calling on the offensive side of the ball. Brandon threw good passes to our WRs and they all caught the ball, except for CTs drop.

Borges ran a good offense.

The problem was the 30 yard line and having false starts or Brandon not hiking the ball.

The running game I thought was fine. We ran the ball only a few times, but it looked fine to me. We had to throw the ball because we were losing. When you are losing, you throw the ball. And it was working until the 30 yard line.

I still enjoy Borges and his offense and am not complaining about offensive play calling at all.

Looks to me like we may have center issues again which is a bad prob. for the ol.

Cox looked good other than forcing a few in there that he shouldn't have.

I would like to see a little more Kenny Irons in there. Thought tre was way overused late in the game. We have plenty of fresh legs in that position.

You don't have to throw the ball when you're losing. we were losing the whole game. I'll agree with the penalty situation but we did not control the game because we didn't move the ball on the ground at all. Tre had one good run and it accounted for almost half his yards. I just think that we put too much emphasis on the passing game and that was a big reason for the turnovers. I believe we needed to run the ball more to take the pressure off of Cox. I was mainly wondering why we didn't run the ball and why we didn't have any pre-snap motion or formation changes.
