Auburn had more total yards even with only 50 rushing yards. Auburn drove down the field at half time to answer the GT score un under 90 seconds. Brandon Cox had 342 yards but he needs to calm down and quit forcing throws. The Defense did pretty good if you consider the FIVE Auburn turnovers causing the Defense to stay on the field too long. IMHO Auburn will be fine if they work on the following areas: Brandon needs more protection Brandon needs to quit forcing throws(see protection) The running game needs work Balance needed on offense. 23 rushing attempts to 44 passes is not balance. Don't panic so soon. I think Auburn went into panic mode too soon. The running game was abandoned too soon forcing Cox to throw too much into coverage and was picked off 4 times in the second half. One was due to his arm getting hit and that was from poor protection all night. I also saw a GT team on a mission. They came out on the first possession and looked like a well oiled team. This GT team will condentd for the ACC title. Actually this game reminds me of the Virginia game a few years back when they came in with a underrated team and beat Auburn in our season opener. If Auburn corrects the mistakes I mentioned they will score a lot of points and win at least 8 games. I have expected 2 to 3 losses this year and if you expected undefeated seasons back to back you are crazy.
tiger88 934
Is anyone else sick of seeing sacks take off of total rushing yards? I thinks sack yards lost needs to be a new category or something. We had alot of positives. Our d was really good at times, but had too many breakdowns. Only 6 points in the 2nd half and that was largely due to turnovers. BC looked awesome at times but forced a few too many in there. I think we will run the ball better and soon. I would like to see a little less tre in the game and a little more irons just to see what happens. I really think we're gonna have a very good team this year. aumoore 0
To only loose by 9 points after turning the ball over 5 times in the second half is a positive as well. I would have expected to loose by at least 17 to 21 points after giving up 5 turnovers to one. Thank god this is not a SEC game. Does anyone remember the year when Alabama lost their first game to GT and they did not loose another game while GT went on to loose all the rest of their games? I might be a little off on GT record that year but Bama woke up after that game and run the table.

Still not acceptable but not as gloom and doom as some are saying.
aumoore 0
Ok I was correct on GT not Bama In 1981 Alabama lost its second game to GT and went on to go 9-2-1 with another loss to Texas in the Cotton Bowl and a tie to Southern Miss. GT did not win another game all year. If you turn the ball over 5 times you will loose 98% of the time and it might be to bad teams. If you do this against good teams and still are in the game at the end you have to be doing something right.
GoAU 1,696
The root of all of our offensive problems, IMHO, was our inability to stop massive penatration of the LOS. Cox was hurried and took a beating, and the backs couldn't find holes anywhere.
