While at the game I thought the play calling was awful and we missed a lot of opportunities to run the ball. Having just watched the replay on css I actually think the play calling was pretty good, on par with last year. I think the problem we had last night was putting ourselves in bad situations. we had so many penalties at the absolute worst times. We started several possessions with a false start, essentially giving tech an extra 5 yards. The blame falls equally at the feet of the coaches and the players. Cox did a good enough job to get us a win in his first start (considering he was on his butt half the game). If somebody has a way to find out the number of quarterback pressures or hits he had to overcome it would be interesting. If we can protect him better we will be very successful as the season progresses. As far as the defense is concerned, we had better learn to be more aggressive. If we are going to start one of the smallest d's in the sec, I suggest we use our speed to our advantage. Having sobered up from last night I am no longer pessimistic about the season. We need to be more disciplined and not commit penalties and we will be fine.

Does anyone have an update on what happened to D. Irons, and why mcglover did not play much in the second half?
