phigamTIGERfan 0
Me and a couple of my Fraternity Brothers are headed to New Orleans to help with the hurricane relief efforts. Since we all have pistol permits we will probably be deputized when we arrive. I have the opportunity to set aside prior obligations to go down there and help and I feel like it is my civic duty to do so. It's a scary situation down there. More people have died in this disaster than 9-11 think about that. I am calling on the Auburn Nation to be with us, and everyone down in the gulf. If anyone can help out in any way it will be greatly appreciated. Hobbie

I was in Gulfport last Wednesday and I sure as heck didn't want to be waving a gun. Best of luck and my prayers are with you.

stoic-one 1,589
Bless you!! However, can I suggest stopping at one of the smaller towns along the way that has probably been ignored by the larger operations who are focusing primarily on the larger population centers.... The smaller towns need just as much help, but no one has heard about them because the press and national interest is on NOLA and Biloxi...... You may not even need a firearm there, take it anyway, but slow down, stop, and look around. Prayers to you either way!!

SouthLink02 8
You will not get into New Orleans. The city has Checkpoint Charlies at every location to get into the city...back roads and everything. Trust me, I was there.

I leave from Maryland tomorrow morning at 5am for a little town called Laurel, MS. It seems to be a ways from Biloxi, but from what I have heard it is in shambles and no aid has gotten to them. We have a U-haul full of supplies. No pistols though.

Laurel was in good shape compared to Gulfport, Biloxi, and the small towns along the coast. Places like Long Beach and Waveland just don't exist anymore.
