emeraldtiger 0
I honestly believe the only thing holding this team back from being able to score at will is experience at the QB spot right now. I say experience and not talent. Cox showed flashes of brilliance the other night, but it turned out to be too much too soon for him on the big stage. Borges had too much faith in Cox IMHO. With a more seasoned BC, there is no doubt that Borges' gameplan vs Tech puts up 30 or 40 points easy. Look how easy Cox moved the ball up and down the field only to be stopped by a TO or penalty. Also, I think he can make even better passes and be more efficient all around with a little time. At some point during this season, we could see evolve one of the most explosive, scoring offenses that we've seen AU in a long, long time.

'82 Tiger 2
welcome aboard thought cox did better than some of our previous qbs starting their first game for AU. the 4 ints hurt, but think brandon will be really good. if brandon and his teammates get better every game, we have a chance to be pretty good. if they don't get better, then we'll be in for a long season. Good QB's without any running game = Hawaii, and most pac 10 teams(except USC).
sportwareagle 0
If I'm correct, Sullivan had four interceptions his first game at Auburn! I think Brandon will be fine, and cannot wait for him to show us everything his got and why he was the #1 QB recruit in the state!

Aufan59 168
I definatly agree. He made some great passes, and I was very impressed. If he was more experienced, and wasn't forced to take the game on his shoulders, those 4 forced passes that turned into interceptions could have been 4 incompletions out of bounds. "Live to play another down". Once throwing the ball away is instinct, Auburn will have a great QB on their hands.
WarEagle_57 0
Cox should not have been expected to throw that many passes. But the fact that we were down, and lack of a running game caused him to have to do more than he was capable of. If we had gotten the early lead, Cox has big day passing and AU never looks back. Can't wait to see how we do tomorrow....oh wait, I won't get to see it....
Wishbone 0
Cox is the greatest pure passing QB I have ever seen wear an Auburn Jersey. Cox and WR's came close to winning the GT game by themsleves.
API50 0
Before this year is over, the best BC QB in the state will be the one whose last name is .............drum roll.............COX. Brodie who?

Sorry guys one run every 5 or so plays in the first 3 quarters isn't establishing a running game.. they thrived on getting it established then opening up the passing attack last year... redfish99999 0
Your post plus many responses and no one even mentions BLOCKING..... Forget Cox, running game, balanced attack, etc...... Nothing is gonna happen until competent blocking comes around...... hopefully this week....

All of that other comes down to the line of scrimmage. Even on the DL, if they are harrasing the opposing QB p front that gives our DBs the chance to pick off an errant pass. It will come together tomorrow. BC throws for 250 and we rush for at least 150!!!!

To win, we obviously have a few more holes to fill....

Ryan Sanders 123
Whoever said we didn't try to establish the run till the 4th quarter was RIGHT ON! I am sick of hearing that we didn't have a running game.. We couldn't run the ball, etc.. The thing is, we didn't even run the ball for more than 2 plays in a row (im sure we did, but cant recall it) until the 4th quarter.

Shug2003 1
You cannot win in this league without a solid ground game. It doesn't matter how many passes you "sling" during a game because IF you pass every down, three things can happen and two of them are NOT good. Also, it's not fair to place in inordunate b urden on your QB to win the game through the air when we have capable running backs who can run the football. (although some of them MUST first learn to block too) What surprizes me is we had the same amount of time to teach our backs to block as other teams and they did NOT! Also our OL blocking was non-aggressive and pitiful. Same comment.Hope things improve...

Cox did not look very sharp but then, Borges did not really try to throw the ball so I'll give that a pass. However, the Oline was just not very good this game. Average at best on both passing and running plays. In the past, I have defended the Oline, but they are going to have to do a whole lot better than that if you ask me in the future. In the second half, I thought our Oline just got whipped, and Cox was under too much pressure when he attempted to pass on most plays.
DKW 86 7,948
I am willing to bet we do not see anything but players playing until Ark or LSU. Borges is not showing his play book yet guys. We are playing everyone in a uniform just about tho. We are growing and maturing now. KI did a pretty good job today. He is definitely my favorite back. Although, Brad Lester looked good late. Remember too, this was essentially KI's first game this year.
