tigereyes 19
As ya'll know we have played every year for many years, and one thing has done over the years is beat us when we have a marginal team. We have been able to fool most other teams when we have been so-so but not Mississippi State. I think that this is an important game because history has shown us that MSU is an important cog in our football seasons. By the end of Saturday we will know if we have a good team or not. emeraldtiger 0
So let me get this straight.... you saying if we get beat by Miss. St -- the perpetual doormat of the SEC and a program which Auburn has dominated for over 100 years -- we'll know if we have a good football team or not? Man, u're a genius dude. Thanks for the insight.

I guess you have not been following Auburn Football very long or you would know that MSU can beat us and has beaten in the past. If we get beat, then yea, we have a bad team. The last 50 years Auburn is 37-12-1 against State with half of their wins coming in the 90's between 1990 to 1992 and from 1997 to 2000 which overall are probably some of the worst years for AU ever between the Ramsey scandal and Tater Tot leaving the team in with zero SEC caliber players. Of course, 1997 was a good year I guess before the bottome fell out. Auburn's litmus test has always been the Alabama and UGA games. Sure, Miss. St every now and again will catch Auburn in a down year, but that's hardly what I would call a measuring stick for our season.

I agree with emerald when I say that Saturday is no test. GT was and we failed.
GaTigerFan 0
I believe I know what eyes is saying here... If beats us it will have a lasting effect on us. Players will lose confidence and it could mean a long year. If we win... it will boost confidence and hopefully carry over to all remaining games. Under Crooms is gaining confidence themselves. They are much better than last year (which we will see on Saturday). We will have to have a good game to win. I think we will. 31

OKieAuburnDoug 1
Will MSU have their big DT back who gave us fits last year? Either way 42-13...carries will FINALLY EQUAL pass attempts... MSU wil 10 two FGs on our first string...a late TD on our youngsters...
