Stories of horror from GT fans

I just read the article on Alonzo Horton and it lightened my disgust with some in the Auburn family. I had about 15 Georgia Tech students stay with me last weekend and I was horrified at their experience down on the plains. One GT student had all 4 of his tires slashed, and his car keyed  . The police did not respond to his call until 2:30 on Sunday. Another fan was walking the concourse and had full beer cans thrown at him before the game even started :o .

I know some of the tech fans were annoying, but anonymously attacking them is ridiculous. Let's not let our reputation be destroyed by a few punks. If anyone sees an Auburn "fan" doing anything that does not represent the school then stop them. We are better than that. These are experiences I have had at UGA and LSU, lets not stoop to that level.

:au::blink:

Every school has it jerks and drunk idiots.

Seems most of the Tech people that came to Auburn had a good time with no problems from the posts I have seen on ITAT from Tech faithful this week.

Sorry your friends appeared to get flak everywhere they turned in Auburn.

wow, thats bad... a few years ago i was very worried about my vehicle in tuscaloosa... au/uat game....i was parked at the pike house and i thought when i got back my jeep would be on blocks... but they were all cool with the auburn decor on my jeep... the only bad experience ive ever had was at death valley, they threw beer, spit cups, bottles and cans etc... but no major damage... one of the best places IMO, is gainsville... but doesnt compare to auburn (of course) :au:

Guest Tigrinum Major
Those were evacuated LSU fans slashing tires and throwing beers.

Seriously though, let's remember this when the annual "Baton Rouge is Baghdad" posting starts.

I thought Baton Rouse was more like Fallujah...

My daughter, who is in the AU Marching Band, noticed some AU students throwing beer and such at the GT band, staining their white uniforms. Unfortunately, such things seem to occur more frequently at night games, when those who drink have already been doing so for several hours by kickoff. She said she never saw that kind of behavior from AU fans last year, and of course AU had no home night games last year. LSU, on the other hand, frequently has home night games. That probably plays a big part in their "reputation."

As most of the posts stated, about every SEC school has a minority of fans that do this. As for LSU, it has developed into a reputation for ALOT of fans that do this. Glad I could clarify that for ya! :)

I know I do. I've won the Parish urine-tossing contest 3 years running. And you should see my granny get after a set of whitewalls! Ahhhh-eeeee!

I agree it's a minority of the fans but it's sickening when you witness it. The area we parked had tons of GT folks and everyone seemed well behaved on both sides, before and after the game. I hate to hear of Auburn or anyone's fans doing crap like that.

A few years ago, we were walking behind the stadium after the AU/UA game and the Bama busses were pulling out of the stadium. We stood there with a group watching them pass and there were a few guys that were really loud and cussing up a storm. One guy in particular stepped out, snorted up a good snot wad and lofted a clam on the bus window. Several folks got in his face but I got to thinkin', what this turd would do if they stopped the bus and a couple of linebackers got off and confronted him.

Dude would be lickin' it off the bus window and I'd have laughed all the way back to the car. SHOW SOME CLASS, FOLKS.

I walked by some very drunk young boys (college age) on Wire Rd across from CDV on the tennis court side. They were in face of and mouthing off at some TEch fans as they walked up Wire Rd. I normally would have said something, police officer ways in me coming back out, but I had my 3 yr old with me, so I wasn't about to get toe to toe with those guys. Horrible behavior!!! Not Auburn!!

I agree with that one. I was at the UF USC game last year, same crap went on there. Its not funny, a prank, and not classy. But every school has those fans that they wish they didnt have. You still love them for being a fan of your team, just dont like the way they represent your team.

Could we jointly work on a letter to the editor here and send it to the Plainsman and O-A News etc.? It is difficult to confront drunks in the night, but some of their actions may be curtailed by reading there negative effect upon the school they love. Someone start a letter and make it a sticky for a few days. Once comments have been incorporated, send it to the press. Is there any backing for this?
