Thank goodness Auburn didn’t hire Billy Napier

Texas A&M isn’t very good

The top 5-6 teams in the SEC could beat any team in the country (possible overreaction)

I keep reminding myself what all good coaches say about first games. 'You're never as good, or bad, as you looked.' But man we looked well coached. I remember thinking that I couldn't believe a receiver missed a pass. Last year I was shocked when we caught one. It will be interesting to see how the team approaches the next game.

I was just about to start a thread about being thankful we didn't hire Napier! Mid major wunderkind who is in over his head in the SEC. Much like Harsin. I doubt he even makes it through the season.

I also doubt Napier does not make it through end of season. That said, who on their staff would fill in remaining games on their schedule?

Some people can’t handle power 5 level head coach. Florida is done for sure. I don’t know how the aggies can be so bad on the offensive end with the talent they have.

It already looks like Elko may have been a bad hire.

How good is our Oline????? Anyone who has better eyes care to comment?

They were dominant against a high school team.

A&M is without their RB1. Notre Dame is simply a better team and will be a 5-8 seed. I expected them to win. A&M still has a very stout D.

I was trying to pay specific attention to the Oline, and agree with Viper - we were clearly a much better team.  But that being said:

1) I don’t remember us jumping offsides. Not even with the excitement of opening night

2) Didn’t see any blown calls where a defender flew through untouched.  Even against a bad opponent, where the guy doesn’t make a tackle, you’d see an untouched defender.

3) No holding calls

A lot remains to be seen before I can think we are necessarily “good”, but there are a lot of indicators that could say you are “bad” and I didn’t see any of them.  Hope that makes sense…

Maybe . Still too early to tell. Pretty good defense but offense looks so pedestrian.

Jury is still out on OL & DL in my opinion. I've been to AU games for 50 years now, and I do not ever remember seeing a team as bad as A&M. We literally could have blocked every single one of their punts if we had tried(not an exaggeration). I guess I was most disappointed in the pass rush, but honestly, their OL held and tackled a lot, and we truly cleared the bench with everyone. Really the only true takeaway I had is that we are willing to go downfield early & often and definitely have the WR to do it. The rest...still remains to be seen. And I still like HB as QB1 even if not til next season.

ACC - FSU, Clemson, Va Tech … rough week. Miami being the sole bright spot.

Miami has great path to conf championship game.

Compare and contrast the performance of our leading receiver from last year (Rivaldo) in last night's game to that of all our new WR's, both xfer and TF. Eye opener.

ATM is where we were last year on WRs, with a similar/possibly worse QB.

ND doesn't play anybody else until EOY.

Couldn't watch it because I'm OCONUS currently, but by the looks of it, we might have something this season.

Shooting for 9 wins this season isn't absurd.

You can't tell against a.m. Call will bring better lines. Cal offensive line will keep our defensive line on the field longer. Our offense will have less possessions.

And I think Miami is exceptional.

Announcers at the end of the Notre Dame game saying they are basically already in the playoffs. That Texas A&M may have been their toughest game. Can't say I love that.

Once they add the missed 10 minutes of game time, may bring more possessions.

It is not likely strength of schedule will effect ND either.

They have it made. No reason they shouldn't be in the playoffs every year.
