Feeling the heat under the chair and realizing it’s not a heating pad.

The Coach finally listened to whoever they got to do “pre-crisis” coaching.

Yep.  Hugh got wind of how folks felt about him casting blame for AU's misfortunes in the losses.  He must've also heard about the negative recruiting and Kiffin's jab about how to manage a QB roster too.  Someone in the Administration told Hugh he may want to change his tune quick.

Recruiting is hard enough in this conference when your team is pumping out wins.  But when things are steady falling apart, racking up losses and your coaching gets called into question, there's no point in digging a deeper hole by blaming players for their lack of execution when the HC is the man that writes the playbook and makes the personnel decisions.

Cliffs:

- Freeze starts his press conference by saying it’s his responsibility to bring “bring results to this program that restores glory.”

- Freeze asks fans to stick with the program saying, “My ask is to stick with us through the growing pains and support our guys and efforts and our recruiting efforts.”

- Freeze says he uses the number of freshmen playing as his recruiting pitch. Says he tells recruits that they’ll have a chance to play early

- Freeze said he thought the gameplan against Oklahoma was “one of the better gameplans that a staff has put together in my time.”

- Freeze: “There’s a lot of positives that aren’t matching up with the results.”

- Freeze says his biggest regrets from the Oklahoma game were not giving the ball to Jarquez Hunter on the possession where Auburn was stopped near the goal line in the first half, not getting points at the end of the half, not running the ball on the third down before the missed 51-yard field goal and not running the ball instead of throwing on the pick-six in the fourth quarter.

When asked about the freshmen, Freeze says they’ve put an emphasis on recruiting players who can make an impact right away. Mentions Demarcus Riddick who was effective in containing Michael Hawkins Jr.

Freeze says on the first quarterback run with Sam Jackson V near the goal line, the tight end didn’t go to the right spot. Said not having Brandon Frazier on that play hurt.

Freeze said Payton Thorne “laid it on the line” for the team against Oklahoma. Said he gives the team their best chance to win as long as he takes care of the ball.

When asked about whether the team could spiral after Saturday’s loss, Freeze says, “if that is a question about your team, then you’re probably not going to have a whole lot of success.”

Continuing about keeping the team together, Freeze says, “We’re not going to blink as a staff, and I don’t expect our kids to either.”

When asked about what he inherited, Freeze says the roster “was what it was,” but said that fans should “absolutely” expect better than a 2-3 start to the season.

When asked what he says to the freshmen during the rough start, Freeze says, “Welcome to life.”
