I like this pickup a lot. Very productive veteran player to blend with our young talent.

Is this Pro grade good, bad, or average?

Murray chose the Tigers over Florida State and offers from many other schools. A talented pass rusher that visited Auburn over the weekend, Murray said he found the right fit and found home on the Plains.

"It's big to have the relationships, but also where I can contribute on the field," Murray said of why he chose Auburn. "Me being in their scheme and seeing that, I loved everything about it.”

"This is the stop for me. This is the one. The biggest thing for me was the relationships and on top of the relationships, showing me that I can contribute in this defense. I know they can help me develop my skills. I've got work to do. I feel like trying to get to the next level, this is the place to do that."

Getting to see Auburn's defense and the role he would be playing next season, Murray said the scheme will allow him to hit the ground running this spring.

"I was in the meetings with the d-linemen and the plays that I made this season, he replicated the same exact play," Murray said. "He was showing me plays I've done while showing me the Auburn plays. I can contribute in this defense and I'm loving it."

Auburn was looking to solidify the edge position with the loss of Jalen McLeod from a season ago. The Tigers return Keyron Crawford and redshirt freshman Jamonta Waller along with signee Jared Smith. Adding another veteran player with one year of eligibility remaining would be ideal for Auburn's defense heading into the 2025 season.

With the pieces in place at the position along with the rest of the defense, Murray said he can't wait to get on the field this spring to see it all come together.

"It's crazy," he said. "Then talking to coach (Hugh) Freeze and going to his house, that's relationship. He was telling me I can be the older guy. Just show up to work every day and helping everybody. A lot of things about the visit gave me a yes. War Damn Eagle!"

Between what we picked up in the HS class, returning players, and portal we really only a few more pieces. One was a solid veteran Edge which we just picked up. I think we still need another solid veteran interior D-line, a TE, maybe a LB and maybe an interior O-Line. I know we also want a 4th QB, but I don't think that is as important as the others.

The one position that I mentioned above that I think we need most is veteran interior D-Line.

Right now I am probably wearinng my orange and blue glasses but I think we have potential to be a really good (not great) team this year with 8 to 9 wins.

It's definitely good. We will see how he does against better competition, but I personally like veteran, productive defensive guys from smaller schools. I like this pickup.

8 to9 wins should be the floor next year.

Should be. But we know a 7 win season saves him. Hell maybe a 6.

I think we will be the ball really didn’t roll our way this year even if it was partially our fault.  Regardless I’m excited to watch this team compete.  I’ll be happy with two interior d-lineman though

I'm hoping we have more self respect than that to let a 6 win season save him. A .500 record and three years straight of a stagnant trajectory of improvement with this roster should be coaching criminal negligence. And after three seasons of no on field growth despite massive receuiting wins, recruiting would begin to suffer, and you'd start to see us regressing as a program. 8-4 should be the damn floor with this easy schedule we have. Time for the excuses to stop.

Not sure I'll ever get used to "his agent said" when it comes to college sports.

They need to come up with a better term than NIL. There’s nothing NIL about it, it’s all pay for play might as well call it that.

We took the legitimate injustice of college athletes not fairly compensated for their work and value and replaced it with a lawless system that gives 18 year old's more power and leverage than NFL players. Used a cannon to kill a fly.

Every time on every issue. It's the new American way, I guess.

It's always been a shi# show with college football. It literally took 97 years of football before we were able to have a game against our in state rival on our own campus. Took over a hundred years before crowning a champion based primarily by play on the field, instead of being voted on by overweight sports writers with ketchup stains on their shirts.

Hell, it's still being voted on actually. Now they just vote on who gets to play for it.
