"Pat Dye Field"

Yeah, that looks silly. I can't recall anybody ever putting the field name on the field. They usually just put it on the ring seperating the upper and lower levels.

How did you get that picture? Seems kinda odd that it would be painted on the field so early. Usually they don't start painting the field until the week before the game.

picture looks doctored to me

It'd take a HELL of a photochopper to do that job. I don't think anyone here has the skills, me included, to do that. It also doesn't look photochopped to me. I'd say it was real, but I'm on the other end of campus every day so I'm not going over to check.

I agree, but the first 3 letters of "Field" look unusually bright compared to everything around it.

If you have been to a game or seen the stadium this year, the orange seats are for those who purchase cushioned seats that stay there for the season. This way they don't have to bring in their own cushioned seat to the game. It started a few years ago in places like Bryant-Denny and others - good idea.

But yea... picture looks fake to me and again "why would they paint the field so early" is exactly what i said. Unless they are trying to get opinions

Yeah that has to be doctored. Doesn't really look real. BTW, doesn't the new photoshop have a feature where you can take say, the field, and draw around it, and everything you draw inside that, sort of goes in perspective with it? Hard to explain.

Guys this picture is not doctored in any way shape or form, just taken with a camera phone - that's all. Look at the my other posts on the board - I'm not a troll by any means. I guarantee 100% that this picture is real. Walk into Jordan-Hare tomorrow and see for yourself (Tigerwalk side entrance).

They're bright because of the light brownish strip of field that runs through it. All of the shading is correct for the image.

Moe, I don't doubt you one bit.

Stupid, silly, putrid, ugly, oversized, cheezy, pitiful, and on and on and on amen.

The folks at the AU Atheletic Dept., just can't stop heaping more and more praise upon themselves and their predecessors. Why don't we just put a 15 foot bronze statute of Dye in the center of the field. Maybe he could do a little blocking for us.

Where's my rototiller??

No offense to moeI but have you actually seen this? I have seen lots of farks the Oklahoma guys do and they look very real. I'll believe this one when I see it.. Wht yard line is it? All I see is a zero. And why aren't the yard line numbers visible across the field? Why would they paint it this early when rain would mess it up?

Yes I have actually seen this. It's on the 20 yard line and extends to the 30. Have you ever been on the field? If you have, you would know how big our crown is. This is why you can't see the yard line numbers across the field.

And once again this is taken with a camera phone.

Looks cropped. I believe you can make out a perfect square block outline where it has been blocked in, but if someone has actually been over there and seen it, so be it. Sure seems early to be painting the field before UA comes to town. In fact how many times will they mow the field in the next two weeks. I know they used to overseed the field with fescue to keep the green look and it required mowing.

you are 100% right. They will indeed be mowing a lot (and I mean a lot) from here on out. And yes they do overseed - they did back around the USC game. They only reason I can tell for them doing it this early is for PR purposes.

I believe that the picture is not cropped, as they have no more games until Bammer comes to town, but why put it on the field????

In an unrelated note, there is no truth that the AU at the 50 has been replaced with "Welcome to the Jungle"

:homer:

Well if it is real and they do plan on having this for the UA game hopefully it is just for the one game since that is when the official dedication of the field will take place.

Looks fine by me. I'd rather have a permanent sign up inside the stadium, though. Hope this is just temporary. I never heard that PDF was officially agreed upon. I remember the BOT approving of the idea, but didn't know when it went into effect officially.

At FSU, Doak Campbell Stadium they installed a 30' tall stained glass window

for Bobby Bowden. He does have a few more wins

Coach Dye probably isn't on that level, but a well designed sign should be in order.
