Once again thanks Stat!

Baring injury, Brandon Cox is in elite company on this list. Coach Borges has been saying BC would be a great QB before his time is over at AUBURN!

WAR EAGLE!

Oh boy now the Bammers will be on a rant with this thread since Brodie is so far down the list.

130.66- B.Croyle Ala

Why would they? Stats don't lie :D

But I think we have caught StatTiger in his first mistake, I am sure that Croyle number should read 230.66, right? I mean he was awarded the Heisman before the year started, certainly someone that great wouldn't be this far down in the SEC, much less the national rankings?

The only mistake StatTiger made was not factoring in the "if" factor, which as every Bama fan knows, is always important to the truth: "if" Brodie had not played with a sore shoulder for most of 2003, "if" Brodie had not been robbed by refs so many times, "if" Prothro had not been hurt, "if" his receivers had not dropped so many balls in their grasp, etc., etc., etc, then Brodie's numbers would be the proper, pre-ordained 230.66. :big:

That really is impressive for Cox. As for Croyle, I'll say this. IF Brodie Croyle beats us this year, it won't be so damn funny anymore.

With their D, we're gonna have to bring our A game.

I think we'll win, but no matter what happens with Bama vs LSU, or AU vs UGA, the Iron Bowl is going to be hard fought this year. I

I agree. Croyle is dangerous because he will take shots down field. Alabama's defense is good enough to keep us to 13-17 pts so Croyle doesn't have to complete a high pct of passes. If he can hit the big play a few times, their offense will not need to consistently move the ball. Like Dameyune Craig in 1997, our offense did not consistently move the ball but Craig burned opposing defenses with the deep ball. We ( 1997 ) had a defense good enough to keep opponents to 17-20 pts and Craig gave us the ability to make the big play through the passing game. In the games, we could not generate the big play, we nornally ended up on the sort end of the stick.

Make no mistake about it, our offense will struggle at times with Alabama's defense and I see a low scoring game. Prior to this weekend, based on scoring margins from both teams, I predicted an Auburn victory over Alabama ( 19-14 ). If we can force Alabama's offense to work for everything they get on offense and limit the big plays, we have a good shot at beating them.

no real secret that the offense isn't clicking. i saw a quote in the paper today where brodie said "i wish we (the offense) could adopt the same attitude as the defense"

there is no mistake that the defense is good. in the same article mentioned above, the defense had said that all the offense needs to give them is 3 points, we don't intend on letting LSU score 1 point. while obviously i'm sure LSU will score, i do think this says something about the defensive mindset. shut them down. but boy it sure wouldn't hurt if the offense can score more than 3!!! if they can bring this mindset to Auburn, it should be a really good game!

The difference is Auburn has a defense AND an offense. uat has NO offense...none.

I think it is interesting to compare our performance versus UA in games against our four common opponents. The most surprising is on defense where Auburn has given up 3.5 fewer points per game to those four common opponents!

On offense, as expected, AU scored an average of 11.5 more points per game than did UA. The result is an average of 14 points per game better performance against the same four teams!

Keep in mind that since most of the UA games were close, their starters played much longer than did the starters for AU. What does this mean? Maybe nothing, but the implication is that AU is 14 points better than UA, at least against the teams that we both have played.
