DKW 86 7,948
This is an ideal rivalry. Plenty of tradition on both sides. Near even series. 7th Oldest in the Nation! CTT is 4-2 vs UGA @ AU, 6-2 Overall. AU leads series 52-48-8 @ JHS UGA Leads 12-9-2 @ SS AU leads 17-9 Fifth Time in the last six years that BOTH are ranked. UGA and AU are tied for first place in SEC wins since 2000, 34-12. Overall, a good, clean, gentlemanly rivalry that both teams look forward to plaing every year. Compare to UGA-UT, UGA-UF, UAT-AU, LSU-AU (getting better). Can a rivalry be better than this?
Longtrainn 2
You forgot to mention we both have great unis. I don't claim to be a fashion expert, but the Oldest Rivalry in the South is also usually the best-looking game too.

GalensGhost 0
If there was no such thing as Auburn, I'd probably be a Georgia fan. I want AU to get after their ass and I hope AU wins, but I don't have any real animosity toward UGA. I'd have no problem with them winning the East every year. I've met some very classy UGA fans over the years and this game is always a fun one to play. Very competitive but not very bitter. I don't hate UGA and like to see them do well. Can't wait for my first football weekend trip to Athens this weekend.
TigerinBham 1
I think that my Auburn friends who live in Georgia and have to listen to how great UGA is day in and day out might have a different opinion. One of them told me last night that there has been alot of smack talk on Auburn this week on Sports Radio.

There is a lot of Bulldog fan resurgence here since FSU has been struggling the past few years. The local media does tend to concentrate on the "G" juggernaut though. There is no real animosity towards Auburn folks. UGA fans tend to respect us.
TigerOne 1,307
it is the best rivalry, the way one should be. There are exceptions of course Auburn Georgia are like brothers (or sisters)
Dyebama 2
I have no Ill wills towards GA...and Yes I live in GA not too far from Athens. But It has been said that Au and GA are like Cusins.... They will fight and have a good fight in each others back yard but dont you dare say any thing bad about either school when they are apart.... Pat dye played at Ga coached at Au...dooley Played at Au Coached GA ....A lot of simularities between both schools foot ball wise...both have classy Uniforms etc....Hell as bad a I want my daughter to go to Auburn....and she is 4 now...(just think of the out of state tuition) I would not mind if she went to GA. I have a lot of GA customers and Fans and we have a lot of fun this time of year poking at one another...but when they play other schools I pull for GA all the Time... I nerver could say that about UAT...I was raised in B'ham Hoover graduated from Berry High 83 Grad AU in 89 and Yes I still HATE BAMA...,,,,In fact Avoid the Rush hate Bama for next year... WDE!!! and DYEBAMA .....( I know Bama has to win vs LSU... to help US...but Its gonna be hard to Pull for them) But no other game can be matched than the 89 Bama Game My senior year...Graduation ...and Bama for the first Time...Oh What a WEEK END that was in my life of memories
WarTim 3,532
The two schools have more in common than either would probably like to admit. I have always pulled for uga out of the East. Vince D. is a gentleman and he was trained( )right. I simply have no ill will in me for the bullpuppies. Coach Richt is a very good coach and an even better human. p.s. I would love to beat them by 21&.

Waaay too many crimson in the local media and population around here. BTW, you will love the campus in Athens, it looks much like the Loveliest Village. The only problem is too much red... sportwareagle 0
As a Georgia born gal, I feel I should give my opinion on the subject. Both of my parents are from Griffin, GA and came to Auburn for school (Thank God!!). We were born and raised Auburn Tigers. Our town and the majority of the state are Georgia fans, which normally is okay. However, they act very superior to anything that lives and breathes any differently than them. I did, as I always dreamed, come to Auburn due to the awesome legacy waiver I received. My brother, however, did not receive that luxury, and because of the Hope scholarship decided to stay in-state and go to UGA. He's a sophomore there now. My step-mother also went to UGA, and the majority of my high school went to UGA. Most of them are fine, but I always want to beat the crap out of them. I get bragging rights right around Thanksgiving and Christmas when it's fresh in everyone's mind and everyone's together for the holidays!! Athens is one of the best places to go and enjoy a game, and I truly love the rivalry AUburn and Georgia have. We each have a ton of respect for eachother, but there is still a lot of malevelonce towards them from some people in the state that have to deal with them on a constant basis. I don't hate them, but I do enjoy every minute of a crushing beating we give them!!! Hopefully, Saturday will be one of those days!! WAR DAMN EAGLE AND BEAT THE DAWGS!!! SLAG-91 1,625
It's pretty close to ideal...enough competitive juice to want to beat the hell out of them, but not a lot of true ill will, unlike our rivalry with Alabama. I hope it stays that way. Aufan88, thanks for making a lot of us feel old... Hard to believe that next year will be the 20th anniversary of the "Hose Game".
