My prediction is LSU and AU will beat Alabama soundly although if Alabama does defeat LSU I would like to see them win out. The reasoning for it is I would like to have the question answered on why two SEC teams go undeafeated two years in a row and be left out of the national championship. Even though you probably hate Crimson tide as much as i do, both teams in question are from the state of Alabama so yall should fell double screwed in some scense. :lsu:

Welcome to the board!

I don't think Alabama will win out, but it's certainly possible. I think all this negative talk about thier offense is going to rub some of them the wrong way and they may just get it in gear. I don't think that many people are going to be as upset over the snub if Alabama does go undefeated and is left out of the BCS game because there's just too much negativity surrounding their team right now. USC and Texas are playing very, very good football and are scoring a lot of points and that's what impresses people.

I can answer your hypothetical right now: For some reason, ESPN feels the need to hype the so-called (Mythical) National Championship game. Apparently, they think not enough CFB fans will tune in to watch unless the game is set up months in advance and has multiple Heisman candidates going head to head. When you have such a predictable situation, it makes it extremely easy to hype this game in advance -- every weekend for months on end, if possible. Last season, AU had a Heisman-quality candidate in JC, but he made the unpardonable sin of waiting until his 5th-year Sr season to blossom and thus was really out of the running for winning the trophy. With no realistic Heisman candidate at AU and multiple candidates (2 on each team) among SC & OU, the choice of which game to hype was really easy.

The fallacy in this whole line of thinking is that a true NC game won't need the hype. If the two teams earned the right to be there by say, by winning their conference & then advancing through 2 brackets of an 8-team playoff (my preferred playoff scenario,) the lucky network broadcasting the game won't need to spend a dime hyping the game -- the intrigue alone will sell itself and CFB fans across the nation will tune in to watch the drama on their own.

After this weekend you can forget about the possibility of having 2 undefeated SEC teams in a row missing out on the NC game. :P

I agree USC and Texas deserve there ranking, and also that Alabama does have some thing to prove on offense. Actually it will probably be a alot higher scoring game than most people think because of all the emotions they will be playing with. The 4th quarter will probably be a slug fest.

Agree, there is the heisman factor that goes in to it, but every contender does deserve at least a shot at it. I also would like to have a 8 team play off bracket, but considering the length i would settle with 4.
