but if alabama were to go undefeated they would never get left out of the MNC. :roflol:

You know, after a year of braying that same tired mantra, it's amazing how easily they've conceded the fact this season. The Tuscaloosa News even published an editorial saying that when it happened to Bama, they hoped the fans wouldn't whine about it like Auburn fans did.

You know, there is a big difference between last year's Auburn team and this year's Alabama squad. When Auburn was left out last year, it created a national furor. Should UA end up in that same position this year, you won't hear anyone not wearing crimpson underwear complain.

There's a second version that might appeal more to the "tradishunalists"

You need one more to appeal to this generation's fans: tattoos! Not that I want to see Rodney Dangerfield sportin' a "bear-leaning-against-the-goal-post" tatoo on his back or anything. :D

You're probably right...

BG, your kidding yourself if you actually dont agree with the fact that Bama cant argue anything nationally in terms of being left out of the BCS.

I dont think we are being 'left out'. Bama isnt playing as well as Texas and USC..period. The suggestion was that we arent being respected and that our name doesnt mean anything anymore because we arent automatically considered for the title given the 9-0 record.

But that isnt the case. UT and USC started 1 and 2 and havent lost. Bama is 9-0 and winning ugly. #3 is fine with me. If UT and USC win out...given our current setup with the BCS...they deserve to play for the title more than bama does.

Believe me, I totally agree with everything you pointed out. Only noting on the national stage, others will gladly state that Bama cant argue anything in terms of being left out of the NC game and that Bama really doesnt have a good counter-argument in terms of production of all the teams wanting to get to the NC game.

As bad as I hate to admit it, BG03 is correct. I would love to see Bama play for the NC if they win out, but if USC or UT doesn't lose, they deserve it more than we do in the current system.

I'm sorry, but that really doesn't correspond with the "It would never happen to Bama" braying I heard high and low last year.

If you were one of the six Bama fans who didn't say that in public and only thought it in private, I apologize for grouping you in with the rest that brayed it from the rooftops like jackasses on speed.

Yes, it has happened to Bama. It will happen to Bama, no matter what happens from here on out if those two pre-annointed teams don't lose. Whether you're a Bama fan or an Auburn fan or a Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, LSU or Vanderbilt fan... there's something horribly wrong with a system that discounts how hard it is to play in the SEC, much less finish the season unbeaten. There's something disturbingly wrong with a system that can annoint front-runners before the season kicks off and no other team has a chance to play for the championship unless those two teams falter.

Here here. "brayed"! Haven't heard that term in a while! This should concern everyone IMO. I like to jab at Alabama and it's fans as much as anyone and more than most but the system is faulty! I find it very hard to believe that any fan would say their team does not deserve a shot at the title after running the table! What you have effectively said is that you are no good......

One of the reasons that college football is so wonderful is anyone can be beaten at any time. we weren't supposed to beat Florida in 93 or 94 but we did. By your logic no one should even play the games....Just bow down before the so called experts and accept their theory of who will win. Guess ya'll better give back that win against the mighty gators this year because you weren't supposed to win. Which is it?

I was not one of those saying "It would never happen to Bama"

I knew given the same circumstances that it would.

As far as the rest of your statement, I can't believe I'm actually agreeing with you!

P.S.

Are you the same Galen/GalensGhost that used to be on the old SST Board?
