Yardage Trends

Tossing out the Western Kentucky game, Auburn is averaging +78 yards more than what their opponent normally allows on the season. If this were to occur against UGA, we would gain 367 yards against the Dogs. We are currently averaging 1 pt for every 12.5 yards gained, which would translate to 29 pts against the Dogs. My gut feeling tells me that we won't score that much but the number 24 keeps ringing in my head. :D

Have we improved this year as the season has progressed?

The numbers would indicate we have. Against Tech, MSU, Ball State and South Carolina, we were gaining +55 yards more than what these opponents were allowing to other teams. In our last 4 games ( Ark, LSU, Ole Miss and UK ) our offense has gained +101 than what they were allowing to their other opponents. For the record, Miss State is the only team to hold us under what they have allowed on the season. We gained only 320 yards to the 347 they have allowed on the season.

What does this all mean? Heck, I don't know...

Seriously though, I have no doubt that our offense has progressed this season and Al Borges has done a terrific job game planning and adjusting his game plan during the games. If we can avoid the stupid mistakes we have made in some of our games, I see us picking win #8 in Athens!

Beat them Hairy Mutts!!!!
