Harol Reynolds fired from ESPN

Recommended Posts

ESPN has a habit of firing the only guy on each show that I find worth listening to.

First Trev Alberts and now Harold Reynolds...I hope Peter Gammons is able to recover soon and get back on the show.

ESPN seemingly gets worse each year...

I'm glad you posted that and the reference to Gammons. I obviously missed that. Gammons is really good and so is Reynolds. I hope Gammons recovers and gets back on air.

I've noticed that Kruk is purposely trying to be more controversial in his takes. I don't know why all these networks think they have to spice things up. Anyone who watches golf, notice how Azinger and Faldo( I think) go at it in the booth?

First off, I have no idea how reputable of a site this is but...

Deadspin.com is reporting that the rumor is sexual harrassment is what Harold was fired for. If thats the case, I retract my previous statement about ESPN making bad decisions because if this is indeed true, it was something that needed to be done.

Honestly, even then I would like to know the exact story. These days, it is very easy to get fired for that. Heck, if you look at a person or touch them in a non-sexual way, they can still claim sexual harrassment and it is your word against theirs. Most of the time, their word wins. I have seen it many, many times. Heck twice, I have been accused of racial discrimination, fortunately both times the truth prevailed because my record showed no proof of that. However racial discrimination is harder to prove then sexual harassment. If you are truly a racist, more then likely your attitude and record is going to support that. When it comes to sexual harassment, all they look at is the one incident. I have not ever been accused if it, but I have seen some good men get accused of it from a vengeful co-worker.

On one of the STL forums I visit, someone said it was just a mass coverup by ESPN to hide the fact that Kruk ate him.

From what I'm hearing, this wasn't some one time occurrence. Reynolds had been warned about this several times because he was always flirting with the female production assistants. One apparently got sick of it and said if ESPN didn't do something, she was filing a sexual harassment suit.

I hate that he is gone, too. He was the only one there who had anything to say.

As for the sexual harassment deal, that is ridiculous. Here's an actual example from a place where I used to work.

This girl was getting breast implants. For weeks she would tell anybody and everybody about them and how big they were going to be. She went into one guy's office on the Friday before she got them done and told him to "say goodbye to the mosquito bites".

She comes back from having them done and this same guy passes her in the hall. His exact comment to her: "Wow, (insert name) you really look great. Very natural." She says thanks. He keeps walking.

She files a sexual harrassment claim that same day. They were going to fire the guy. She said he made unwanted comments on her breasts and made her feel uncomfortable. Wasn't sure she could continue working in the same building as him.

Thank goodness they took the time to get the whole story and this poor guy got to keep his job. But he's still "branded" because everybody knew the complaint was filed and what people imagine happened is always 20 times worse than reality.

Well, the rumors are that this wasn't a first time thing with Reynolds. He'd been warned by higher ups to stop all the flirting with the female PA's, that they felt it was inappropriate. Luckily no one had complained...until now. He apparently messed with the wrong broad this time and she reported it.

Reynolds on the other hand says, “It was a total misunderstanding. My goal is to sit down and get back. To be honest with you, I gave a woman a hug and I felt like it was misinterpreted.”

We shall see.
