Arkansas couple welcomes 17th child

By JILL ZEMAN, Associated Press Writer 2 hours, 2 minutes ago

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - It's a girl — again — for the Duggars. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar welcomed their 17th child, and seventh daughter, into the world Thursday.

Jennifer Danielle was born at 10:01 a.m. at Saint Mary's Hospital in Rogers, Ark., the Duggars said in an interview. Jennifer weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces and arrived five days after Michelle's due date.

Less than 30 minutes after giving birth, the Duggars already were talking of having more.

"We'd love to have more," Michelle said, adding that the girls are outnumbered seven to 10 in the family. "We love the ruffles and lace."

Jennifer joins the fast-growing Duggar brood, who live in Tontitown in a 7,000-square-foot home. All the children — whose names start with the letter J — are home-schooled.

The oldest is 19 and the youngest, before Jennifer, is almost 2 years old.

"We are just so grateful to God for another gift from him," said Jim Bob Duggar, 42, a former state representative. "We are just so thankful to him that everything went just very well."

Jennifer joins siblings Joshua, 19; John David, 17; Janna, 17; Jill, 16; Jessa, 14; Jinger, 13; Joseph, 12; Josiah, 11; Joy-Anna, 9; Jedidiah, 8; Jeremiah, 8; Jason 7; James 6; Justin, 4; Jackson, 3; Johannah, almost 2.

The family includes two sets of twins.

Michelle Duggar said that Joshua, Janna, Jill and Jessa were at the hospital, but that the rest of the family planned to visit their new sister later Thursday.

Michelle Duggar said she started feeling contractions Wednesday night and went to the hospital at about 5 a.m. Thursday.

"It actually went fast," she said. "I guess once I started progressing, it went within 30 minutes."

Jennifer was born via a VBAC — or vaginal birth after Caesarean, Jim Bob Duggar said.

The Duggars have been featured on several programs on cable's Discovery Health Network. The next special, the Duggar Family Album, is scheduled to air next month, Jim Bob Duggar said.

Among the "fun facts" listed on Discovery Health's Web page devoted to the Duggars: A baby has been born in every month except June; the Duggars have gone through an estimated 90,000 diapers, and Michelle, 40, has been pregnant for 126 months — or 10.5 years — of her life.

30 min from arriving to the hospital to delivering. I bet that thing popped out like greased lightning seeing as how 12 have probably made the trip before. I'm surprised she had a VBAC. She must be one of these granola types that insists on vaginal deliveries.

I have 3 kids...12, 10, and 8. I'm so done with diapers and potty training, and I've gotten the kids to the point where they do their chores and clean up after themselves.

This article might as well be my vision of Hell.

"Wore slam out" is the expression that comes to mind. And it can be applied to any subject you can think of with 17 kids. What is really amazing is that none of the children have died. Odds are with that many births, something could easily go wrong. Especially after having a litter...or two.

I can think of nothing to say that will not get me banned.

Why do you hate babies?

"So ladies, is there any tread left on the tires or is it like throwing a hotdog down a hallway?"

Someone watched Family Guy last night.

Actually I didn't. Was it on? One of my favorite episodes.

Fell asleep half way through Burn Notice.

I don't get Family Guy. No redeeming value.

It's not like South Park, which offers biting social commentary. It's just crass and vulgar.

So now cartoons have to have social commentary. It's funny. It makes people laugh.

I'm really liking Burn Notice. The last ep was a tad tough to keep focused on , with there being 2 bad guys as well as the mystery Fed who is messing w/ Michael and his mom. But it's a fun summer series, Fiona is a hottie and it has Bruce Campbell. Now how friggen cool is that ?? B)

My favorite Family Guy quote of all time! When that episode first played and Stewie said that, I could not stop laughing for a week.

I have seen the specials they have been on. Blonde Wasabi made me watch them with her. :big:

The neat thing is that they do not use welfare or anything like that. They believe in that old philosophy of providing for yourself. Every now and then local businesses may donate stuff, but it is because they appreciate the family for what they do as being so active in the community, plus the family is sort of semi-famous, so it helps the business also. The family also built that giant house, mostly on their own with just a little contractor's help when needed.

So, you have to ask, if a family this size can sustain itself, how come so many smaller families on welfare can't? Don't get me wrong, I am not against welfare, but I am against the abuse of welfare. Some people do need help to get back on their feet, and some people are too lazy to get back on their feet, or they never got on their feet to begin with and have not plans too.

It's a vagina, not a clown car. :big:

:lmao:

All TIS gets is an emoticon? That's comedy GOLD, people. Gold, I tell you.

Sidenote:Familt Guy is the greatest thing that has ever happened to cable television.

Ever.

Actually Family Guy is a network show on Fox with syndicated re-runs on cable.

So, because of that mistake, you hereby are required to turn in your license that allows you to watch Family Guy and you also most turn in your Stewie talking bobble-head doll. You may get them back after a 6 month probation.

Remember we are watching you through your TV, so we know when you are breaking the rules of your probation. Have a nice day. :big:

Someone just experienced a "shrivel" factor there.

Is that ALLLLLL you see when you're watching people through their TV's ranger?:o
