AUfan88 0
Hey guys, I am about to start my freshman year of college at UAB, but am planning on transferring to Auburn. I was hoping that some of you could fill me in on what student life is like Auburn, specifically from those who are currently students at Auburn or have just graduated. Aubie16 1
Any particular information you are looking for? I just graduated last Saturday and have spent the past 4 years in Auburn. I've loved every minute of it. Link to comment https://www.aufamily.com/topic/39162-student-life-at-auburn/#findComment-391970 Share on other sites
AUfan88 0
As far as particular information goes, the quality of the academics, social scene, what the student body is like, etc. Hopefully your descriptions are opposite of this: What is Auburn like Link to comment https://www.aufamily.com/topic/39162-student-life-at-auburn/#findComment-392133 Share on other sites
CCTAU 3,836
beachgal22 sounds like she should have gone north to school. Or maybe she was just too ugly to be invited home with anyone? Librul twit. AUfan88 0
Wow, real intelligent post there. That really helps me out. I've been reading all the ultra-conservative posts you put on this board for a while now, but never said anything about it. You're really not intimidating anyone by the way. It's one thing to stand by what you believe whatever your politcal leanings may be, but to shove it down everyone's throat and be hateful about it is just plain wrong(again this goes towards any political leanings). Really thanks for the help. The girl on that board's post was dumb too, but it had nothing to do with being liberal or the north(there are rednecks up there too, unbelievable isn't it?). Most likely her problem was exaggerating what she had really seen. So let's analyze her post, Little pissant. beachgal2209-06-2006, 01:59 PM as an auburn alum, i can tell you that it is DEFINITELY a racist and totally redneck university... im a white girl from virginia and saw/heard/and witnessed alot of prejudice towards anyone and everyone who was not a closeminded, ultra conservative neo-con. as for a party school, it it fun for 11 weeks out of the year-- the 11 football games. when there is no football, everyone goes home to the middle of no where alabama, and auburn becomes a ghost town. She states that she's white. Why? Then wants to tell everyone that she's from Virginia. Depending on which part, she more than likely is from the DC contingent. And now anyone who is ultra conservative is considered a close-minded neo-con? Then she proceeds to let everyone know that she can't make any friends unless there is a football game going on. Doesn't sound like my kind of AU person. If you feel the same as she does, GO TO UAT. There are plenty more people to take your place at AU. And as far as helping you out, it's probably best that you go somewhere else. At AU, someone might want to shove their leanings down your throat and that may upset you. Of course, this same thing could happen anywhere you go. So maybe you should just stay home with Mommer. You're welcome for the advice. And I'm not sure my goal is to EVER intimidate anyone. I guess some of us just "sound" like meanies... Link to comment https://www.aufamily.com/topic/39162-student-life-at-auburn/#findComment-392406 Share on other sites

AUfan88 0
Alright, my response to your post was out of line and no, I do not feel the same as the girl on that other board. I shouldn't have even posted that link, who cares what that idiot on that other board thinks. Honestly I've been pretty set on Auburn for a while now and there's not much that is going to change that. All I need to do is focus on my first year of college so I can transfer. That's much better. I was just pointing out the only real negative comment on that thread. most folks will agree that racism goes on everywhere. The problem is that is goes against most everyone nowadays. I'm sure some Asian students have felt it over the years. But even 20 years ago, I never saw it get out of hand. I thin todays college student has learned to judge an individual by his merits as opposed to his color. And just as you have stereotypical blacks in this world, you also have stereotypical whites, asians, mexicans, etc.. So go to AU and you will be sure to create many new friends and aquaintances who view each other as individuals rather than stereotypical groups. I have many friends whose kids are now at AU and they love it, white and black. Wishbone 0
I have two degrees from Auburn and it will be what you make of it. It can be a 7 year party (liberal arts/business) or a 4 year academic struggle (engineering) depending on what you major in. I'm extremely lazy and chose the seven year party and loved every minute of it. No regrets. Liberal wallflowers with very sensitive sensibilities will probably not enjoy themsleves at Auburn. They will doubtlessly feel excluded when the racist rednecks and Uncle Tom's fail to marvel at their sophistication and uniqueness. aumd03 2
Its obvioius the people on that other forum don't know wincrimson. If you read down "Martha" says that its much better at UA. Hasn't she ever heard of "the machine" or George Wallace? There have been some interesting things happen there with minorities running for significant campus positions. And they describe Auburn as a party school. I would say far from it from my experiences when you compare to other SEC schools such as UA, UGA, UF, and LSU. AUfan88 0
Yeah, I didn't really pay attention to what Martha had to say. I've heard a lot of the horror stories about the machine(I believe one of them involved a burning cross, no joke).
