prayer request

My grandmother was in a car accident last week, and is in very critical condition. She was put into a medically induced coma to ease the pain, as well as allow her to be on a ventilator without any pain. She has 2 fractures in her back. They have now brought her out of the coma, but her heart (which was already weak) is not strong enough for her to not be on a ventilator.

My grandfather is still alive at 93, and really is having a hard time dealing with it. They were getting ready to move into a new retirement home, and now he is scared he will be moving in alone.

Please keep my family in your prayers. Unfortunately, this death will most likely divide the family, there have been some on-going feuds that will only become worse if either of my grandparents dies right now.

I'm so sorry to hear about that. Prayers sent.

Given what you've told us, I think the best thing you could do is to try and introduce as much rationality and civility into discussions between different parts of the family. Even in the closest families, there is often bitter disagreement over petty, stupid things. With this in mind, you should consider ways to tactfully remind people that there is serious adult work to be done, and reopening old wounds serves no constructive purpose.

I lost my grandfather the weekend of the UGA game in 2004, I was driving back to Atlanta from Auburn and had to do a U-turn less than a mile from the house and start driving towards Mobile. I feel for you, there always has to be one family member who is an a-hole at times like this.

channon, just saw this. I am so sorry for what your family is going through right now. Having a critically ill relative is bad enough without all the stupid dysfunctional stuff along with it (unfortunately, I am speaking from experience...) Maybe your grand's condition will be the catalyst to make everyone come to their senses. Good luck, best wishes for your grand, and I will keep you all in my thoughts.
