Maybe he is really that good but I have to admit it is a little disconcerting that a true Freshman can come in and be competing for the starting slot. Makes me wonder about the depth or lack there of.

Me hopes he is just that good!

Hope he plays well and hard. Good luck to him.

jdub, love your pic.

"perriwinklebluevan??" freakin' ausome movie. :)

It's not for me, it's for me ma.

You're what?

His ma!

Putting him at RT (which is Cox's blind side) is a pretty big statement...you don't break someone in at that spot on the OL unless you think they can be big-time. I'm hoping that's the case here.

Remember, he is a physical monster at 18 years old. I know that doesn't equate to talent, but obviously he is picking up technique and plays well enough to be put onto the first string. I trust the coaches have seen something in him to lead to that kind of confidence.

I think it is awesome that a kid with all the hype is finally getting a shot. Especially at that position, when it seems to be one of our weakest. Nice to have somebody step up and hear some confidence in someone.

But guys - Nall never said he was the #1 RT, he just let Ziemba practice with the first team. He also did this for Berry and Isom some.

Hope he plays well and hard. Good luck to him.

I like dags, too.

Q was VERY impressed with him (based on his post practice int. on Auburnversus) so he might be THAT good..

I think this is a ploy 2 be THIS early...they haven't even had a full contact scrimmage yet!

I think the kid is a stud. I have never seen him play, but I have a buddy that lives in Arkansas and has watched him play, and says he is the best pick-up, by far, that Auburn got last year. If you look at Nall's track record, he knows what he is doing. He has only started 2 other true freshman in his career, and one was McNeil. And we know how well his career turned out. From the way Nall is talkking, I don't see this as mitivation. I think he sees heart, talent, and desire in this kid and he is giving him a shot to prove himself...

Good Luck Lee...continue to work hard and good things will happen!

he's started three: lindsey, reddick, and mcneil.

i don't care if ziemba's a stud recruit or a freshman or a walk-on senior; i just want the best possible starting five. if that means moving leon hart to second team and starting berry and ziemba on the right side, do it. our line is going to be a work in progress regardless of who starts so why pander to the upperclassmen if you've got more talented young guys? i don't want nall to just hand him the job, but if he out works mccain, gonzalez, and daniels, don't skip him just because of his age. and if mike berry really is one of the best young linemen nall has ever coached (he said that last year) how are we keeping him off the field? step on some toes and find a spot for him or start praising hart for stepping up and holding him off.

Agree. I just want the best ones out there and I am sure that is what we will get.

BTW blocking 2 out of 3 times is good good but it means your QB got killed once.

Gonzalez and McCain also got a practice with the first team. Nall is just giving everyone a shot with the first-teamers to see how they gel, nothing more...

All the talk about Berry last year was how close he was to actually playing as a true freshman because he was so good. How is he behind hart now?

Hart isn't exactly chopped liver. Certainly he hasn't lived up to the 5-star billing (or at least that's the perception), but, if I'm not mistaken, in a rare (his only?) start (vs. UK in '05), he was named SEC Lineman of the Week. My recall, also, is that he came projecting as an OT, moved to center, then finally settled in at guard, with Grubbs and Duckworth ahead of him. I'm not trying to make excuses for the guy, just saying that (maybe) there's no shame in Berry being #2 behind him. Last year, I predicted (wrongly, I suppose) that Jonathan Palmer would have a breakout year after waiting three years to be a starter. Maybe Hart will do it this year . . .

In any case, I fall in line with PM and others who believe Berry (and, if not him, McCain) will wind up as the #1 right OT. I suspect Nall "promoted" Ziemba not only to try some different combinations, but (primarily) to motivate McCain and Daniels.

Went to a practice last year and watched the line drills up close. They were ling up the O & D-lines against each other but when the ball was snapped, only one pair would fight it out. Q lined up on Berry and I'm not sure Berry came within a foot of him as he blew by to the QB. All the players were laughing and ripping Berry while Q skipped over to the other side (Where Grubbs was practicing at tackle) and said, "Now, watch what I do to Ben."

Same result. :P
