Carbon footprint rankings

There is probably a big hole in the ozone layer right over B'ham.

Alabama Energy Consumption Footprints Compared With Other States (2003)

Alabama's Per Capita Carbon Emissions

30.58 Tons of Carbon Dioxide Emissions | #11th highest Carbon Dioxide Producing State

Alabama's Carbon Emissions

169 Million Tons of Carbon Dioxide Emissions | #15th highest Carbon Dioxide Producing State

Alabama's Coal Consumption

81 Million Tons of Carbon Dioxide Emissions | #8th highest Coal Consuming State

Alabama's Petroleum Consumption

36 Million Tons of Carbon Dioxide Emissions | #25th highest Petroleum Consuming State

Alabama's Natural Gas Consumption

18 Million Tons of Carbon Dioxide Emissions | #19th highest Natural Gas Consuming State

Alabama is rich in energy resources. The State has considerable conventional and unconventional natural gas reserves, substantial deposits of coal, and numerous rivers capable of hydroelectric generation. Several regions of Alabama are well suited for growing switchgrass, making the State a potential site for the installation of bioenergy plants. With a strong manufacturing base in paper products, chemicals, and textiles, Alabama's industrial sector leads State energy consumption, accounting for nearly one-half of total energy use.

They must not have gotten the memo that the Georgia state flag got changed. Let me link over to the NAACP and I am sure they will send them the memo.

Boneheaded pious crap like this makes the steel plate in my head throb.

Alabama is a major exporter of electrical power. So while all those people up Vermont can relax and feel good about about their low carbon footprint, they conveniently forget that their cuisinarts are likely powered by some dam or coal plant in Alabama.

The only statistic that makes a damned bit of sense is petroleum usage. Evidently, Alabama is a little more fuel conscious than most, given how it's the 22nd most populous state and is only ranked 25th in petroleum usage. Go figure.

I'm glad someone else caught on to the skewed statistics. You're telling me that New York and Boston, where cars sit in the streets for hours and don't move, who suck so much electricity from neighboring states that they cause brown outs, and where major ports lie where who knows what is dumped in the water, have the 2nd and 8th lowest footprint? Oh, that's right. The majority of libral nutjobs that started this carbon footprint mess are from there.

I guess Alaskans shouldn't heat their homes, they're horrible people because they're "hurting the environment." They also have oil, which is only in existence to pollute the environment and choke baby seals. I bet that cost them points. Same goes for TX, LA, MS, and AL. And those dang farmers in the midwest and southeast. How DARE they burn gas on their tractors to supply food for the entire frickin world. Jerks.

If this map was true, Tennessee it would turn green if Al Gore left.
