Where to Tailgate???

Hello, K-State fan here looking to get some info for the game in 2 weeks.

So, i have heard bad things about no parking close to the stadium, where should we park or should we drop some people off, etc.

What is the alcohol situation at Jordan-O'Hare? just bring coolers i assume, how much will this be affected by the parking situation? also, how hard do they pat you down, i.e. can you sneak a flask in?

and last but not least, where is a good place to eat in town and where is a good bar or bar district for after the game.

Sorry for all the questions, but inquiring minds want to know!

Looking forward to the game! :)

They've really pushed the parking out away from campus but one thing you'll notice is a ton of busses that carry folks to and from the stadium. They're great for getting to the game but you'd be better served to walk back after the game because it's so congested.

You can sneak a flask in pretty easy. They have check points to search bags and stuff at the gate but I've yet to see any pat downs.

It's been my experience that you never want to risk losing a nice flask at the gate because you got pinched. May I suggest this for your bourbon needs? Yellow and blue make green is a wonderful thing.

Eat: Momma Goldberg's (near the stadium). But if you go, you HAVE to get the nachos.

Bar: The Olde Auburn Ale House. It is considered Auburn's greatest secret. Not too many people go there, but it's by far the best beer in town. Not many undergrads there, so if you are looking for a younger college girl - better luck on College Street.

You won't be able to park near the stadium, but if you get there in the morning, you can find a parking spot within a half mile

Let me break it down for you since you have never been here.

You will have NO problem finding Auburn people who will let you tailgate with them / store your stuff at their tailgate till after the game / fill you with good food and alcohol.

Tailgating at college football is what we do. I have only seen one place comparable and that wasArrowhead stadium for a chiefs game. You just bring your appetite, thirst, and football conversation.

yea, Arrowhead was the best time I have EVER had at a pro game! The fans are radical and love their CHEFS. (sorry, always liked that Snickers commercial)

Very similar in regard to enthusiasm and hospitality!

Thx for the heads up on Craig's. Arkansas = underrated BBQ state.

If you go thru Memphis and Birmingham... well, you probably already know about Memphis, but B'ham has several good joints. My favorite is Johnny Rays, Jim'n'Nick's isn't bad, Pat James Full Moon has good chicken, and Dreamland is the only decent thing to ever come out of Turdscaloosa.

Of course, don't count out the possibility of getting some great ribs from some random RV on gameday.

18 days!

IMO Byrons is so-so. I was not impressed with them and their meat was waaaaaay too fatty. Maybe some people like that, but not this guy.

The Barbecue House is without a doubt the best place for me and many others. They are well known for their breakfast. Hit it up on Gameday

ya, my sister lives in memphis, so i have been a couple places. i liked the ham at the rendevous which is wierd, because i usually don't think it should be on the list as a traditional BBQ item.

If you are looking for a unique BBQ experience Chuck's BBQ is a classic example of a Que style distinct to east central Alabama/west central Georgia.

First off, they use a very specific cut of pork called a CT butt. Essentially it is a Boston butt that has had the bone and the fat cap removed. Therefore it is a leaner roast usually weighing between 2½ to 4 pounds.

Secondly, Chuck’s uses a wood fire of oak, hickory, and occasionally pecan rather than the usual bed of coals. This creates a hotter fire so the barbecue is done faster. It is an intense cooking method that requires constant attention.

The final originality that signifies the Smokey Pig style is the sauce. It is a combination of ketchup, mustard, and cider vinegar with a few spices thrown in. The mustard sauce is used not just on the barbecue but it is also the sauce for their uncommon coleslaw as well which garnishes each sandwich. It even flavors the Brunswick stew which is another house favorite, often topped with a little chopped pork for good measure.

I will be heading up for the USF game the week after. Anyone have any thoughts on parking in the lots just south of Lem Morrison on either side of Donahue? I am going to be staying in Columbus, GA that Friday night, then planned to head up early Saturday for the 8pm game. I was thinking about parking my truck there and bringing tents to stay the night so as to not have to have a sober driver. Think there would be any problems w/ that? And if not, any suggestions on bars w/in walking distance from that lot? And will I have any issues parking there if I arrive early Saturday?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I'm looking forward to a great time/game.

The parking lots... If you mean the RV fields.. good luck on Sat. Morn. Though I'm sure you will be able to find a spot to put your truck and a tent. Once you get down there park your truck and walk everywhere...

The best place I can think of that would be close to walking distance would be Tiger's Den or Loco's... Those aren't really that much of bars but it would be a decent place to get a beer or whatnot after the game I suppose (if they are still open)

another good point would be not to get hammered drunk and tackle a 15 ft inflatable aubie (tiger mascot). you might get your arse beat by a 40 year old hairy intoxicated whale of a man auburn fan, like some poor washington state fan did last year. dont get me wrong it was pretty fun and took some balls but still not cool. other word just be cool, hang out and have fun. win or lose we will respect you if you respect us. hell if you dont respect us we will still respect you (of course calling you a jackass behind your back) i think my favorite bar in auburn is botegas or bodagas which ever the hell it is. there are some good eats all down college street. but my favorite is buffalo's american cafe on magnolia ave. which is just around the corner from toomer's corner. ok seriously, which one of you said hooters? people don't go to auburn to eat at hooters. although the waitresses there are might fine!! that's more of a sunday thing when you are hung over. my favorite place to park is at the parking deck beside the library. but be fore-warned. you must get there early to get good parking in the deck. mell st. is also a good spot to tale gate. it's about a 1\2 a mile from the stadium
