For Auburn to gain respect like USC, Ohio State and Florida have we need to win SEC Championships. Apparently beating top 10 teams will not get it done. We have beat plenty of them in recent years. I think we need to consistently go to Atlanta and win.

I agree with the previous poster. However, we have all bitched at one time or another about us not being treated with respect OR recognition. They both go hand in hand with MNC's since the powers that be tend to promote those "storied" programs such as USC, Notre Dame and Ohio State for the national championship over those "other" teams. One of our problems has been we were so INCONSISTENT for so many years and secondly, we havn't burned the woods up playing those "storied teams" and beating them on National TV. As long as we continue to play the Western Carolinas, Tennessee Techs, New Mexico States, Citadels, Central Florida's, Southwestern Lousianas, etc. of the world, we will NEVER attain that national recognition or respect. Yes, I know others do the same thing but for some reason, it seems to hurt us more and I don't know why! Finally, we all know that we don't even get the in-state respect that we should be getting because of that Damn bunch across the state. Shows like the Fine-SCUM spouts out daily venom and cutting remarks about us, call-ins for us are treated with disdain and cutting remarks and questions, and the sports anchors such as Caryle and Heyseed (Haygood) are bammer suck ups that give them preferential treatment ----so there you go.. It's pretty complicated but nevertheless, effective in robbing us of what we are entitled to. JMO. WDE!

Very well done AUman43. Only those of us in the SEC know how tough this conf. is. Therefore we must change our thought process on our out of conf. scheduling. But we must win SEC championships. I think we can with coach Tuberville. I like him and have no complaints on him. He seems to be tougher on our guys now as opposed to in years past. The only way to deal with finescum is to call in and be vocal. IE Bobby from Homewood.

UGA has won 2 SEC Titles & been to a 3rd in the last 5 years yet we aren't even considered elite in today's stem. Why? Because we don't play in NC games nor win them nor do we beat our biggest rivals...ever

There is a reason why Texas, USC, and UF are what people think about when with big-time college football programs....they have won a recent NC.

Texas finally got their OU monkey off their back and won a NC....before then, people looked at UT as soft and a severe under-achieving team.

Slink is right..getting to national promidence is about getting to the NC game and BCS games for that matter. Had AU gotten the opportunity in 2004 and beat USC then we would be there now. AU is on the way there, there are so many things that have to fall into place for that to happen.

I am so sick of hearing the complaints of OOC scheduling...I stand by saying that the 12 game schedule this year is one of the toughest in the country this year, with KSU and USF. I would challenge anybody to compare our schedule to anyone else in the country!!! You can not schedule 4 tough OOC games each and every year. WVU comes on schedule next year (better hope they win the NC this year, otherwise I bet Slaton and White are back next year!!)

They have to let you come to the game before you can win it. The OU team that got trounced by Sothern Cal in '04 would have finished in the middle of the pack in the SEC, but the Sooners went to Miami and we did not.
