I still can't understand why they let him go...was he too objective for them??

I think he is pretty spot on when breaking down LSU, Auburn, and Alabama

FTR, Trev quit ESPN because he was tired of being second fiddle to the main crew. It was kinda funny the night he just decided not to show up. Of course that's what got us the wonder that is Lou Holtz and his insightful commentary.

The guy interviewing Trev is horrible! But I have always loved Trev, he is so well spoken and defends his picks rationally, even when I disagree.

I liked Trev and believe it or not, Mark May. It was funny how in 03' we all dogged TA and hyped May simply because Trev gave his prediction and stuck by it that Auburn would flop that year. May thought otherwise. Turned out Trev was right that year and then it turned out the rolls were reversed the next year.

Like everyone else, I was p.o.'d with the way we kept hearing, "Well, if Auburn beats UGA...well, wait til' they go to Tuscaloosa...well, they can't beat UT for a second time. If they do then...."

But, looking back on it and with CTT's ripping of ESPN that followed, I have to wonder how much influence the network had on how they pimped certain teams. USC and OU were going to be put on a pedastol no matter what. Anyone recall last year? The only event to get more hype than Talladega Nights and Blades of Glory was the GAME OF THE CENTURY. Ohio State vs. Meechegan. It flopped as bad as those two movies.

But ESPN meant that they were going to pump about $50 Kabwillion into the pregame hype.

You lost me there. It was a pretty good game.

"It makes me wonder when he is going to be called the former Alabama coach..."

Spot on, Trev!!

:cheer: Trev. I'd be lying if I told you all that I didn't like Trev Alberts. I've Always liked him, since his days of Crackin' Skulls at Nebraska, his days battling injuries at the Colts alongside Quentin Coryatt, to his days of Telling it like it was, liking it or not. He was the one that said, "Someone needs to go down to Alabama and pick up Auburn, because they would've put up a bigger and better fight than these Sooners (something like that)." I agree with him for the most part. I just don't see uat beating too many teams this year. And no BG it's not because I'm Blind or because I have Orange and Blue glasses on, I just don't see it.

He actually broke the teams down and previewed them.

ESPN is predicting games for every week during Sports Center. They are doing quite possibly the most irrelevant analysis possible at this point in the year.

Yeah, overall it was an entertaining game. But, it fell so far short of the countless weeks of hype that ESPN poured on it. They were hoping and praying with everything they had that these two would be undefeated when they faced each other. I guess it was more of a flop in retrospect when you consider that both these teams were incredibly overrated. Both Michigan and OSU were exposed in that game for having next to no defense and then both were really embarrased in their bowl games.

you do not make fun of talladega nights. because i piss excellence and i will be all over you like a spider monkey!!!!! I am in the same boat when Trev started dogging Auburn just from me being bias towards auburn. but then after the prediction and the outcome of the 04 season i totally changed my mind. hey maybe mr. alberts knows what he is talking about! isn'the on CSTV now or something like that?? i can't watch the you tube video right now because im at work. so ill have to wait until midnight to check it out. I see your point, the bowl games do take some of the luster off of the game in retrospect. Never the less, you have to admit that watching a 42-39 (or whatever the final score was) game can be pretty exciting. If I watched AU beat LSU or FLA 42-39, I wouldn't come away feeling exposed or disappointed that our D gave up 39 points. I'd come away jacked up.

If I didn't have such a bad taste in my mouth when it came to Big 10 football, I actually would have enjoyed that game. I was just sad it didn't end in a loss for both of them.

In 2003, he did correctly pick AU as being overrated in the preseason -- I will grant him that. However, I will never forget the reasons he gave for AU being overrated at #1 by The Sporting News. Did he cite the liability of having Daniel Cobb as starting QB? Did he point out the inexperience of our Nall/Esnminger OC-by-committee experiment? No. Trev said AU was overrated because ... {drumroll} ... "they've never been there before! Win the NC or the SEC before you get ranked #1." Ahh. Why couldn't I think in such bammie logic terms.

I'm not a Trev A fan. I still remember the overbearing & obnoxious attitude he displayed while at ESPN. I'm certainly no fan of Granny Clampett sitting in the College Game Day studio either. Compared to Lou "Notre Dame ith a good team, and um uh tell you why" Holtz, Trev looks outstanding. Trev seemed a lot more rational in this CBS interview than he was when he was on ESPN. Maybe he's changed. Does anyone know if he's now a regular on CBS?

Yeah, they did the same thing last year I believe, probably years before that too. Just something to talk about before the games start. But again, I hate predictions. Just play. Decide on the field. Don't overhype teams so the media will fall in love with them so they end up pushing other deserving teams out of the spotlight. Play the game. And soon, we shall play.

I get your point...but Jason was the QB in 2003...Daniel had already left.

Every UGA fan misses Trev

He loved us....no clue why

Yes he did love Georgia. I will never forget what he said before the 2003 SEC Championship game. "Well Georgia's gonna win the game, Georgia's the better team and they were the better team the last time they played." What was even better was watching him eat crow after the game.

LOL at Trev Alberts. What is that loser doing these days? Nebraska football players fail in everything they do except selling insurance in the Omaha/Lincoln area.

Terrible NU player from the early 90s: "Coach Osborne always said you can't have enough life inurance!"

Old Nebraska Rube: "Well, if Coach Osborne said so it must be the gospel!"

Terrible NU player from the early 90s: to himself "Jackpot! I just count money all day. Man I'm glad this whole state is full of morons!"

I know, can you believe an ESPN reporter was wrong about a prediction?

What a shock!
