AUloggerhead 2,868
What do Auburn fans think of this? It is getting a lot of publicity because some say it is racist. Just want another fanbases thoughts. Geez, it's an ad for a computer chip. They repeatedly used an image of a sprinter in the starting blocks to represent speed at each work station. Works for me. If I buy Intel Core 2 Duo processors, my employees will be able to work faster. I get it. What I don't get is why do "some" think it's racist if I want my computers to work faster? eibua12 81
Ok I will bite: Since Mr Dave put the picture first my first impression was "Oh Intel will make my employees perform 40% better if i use their technology" Then I read that at KSU they think this is racist; so I needed to ponder why and picked the picture apart. You have a white guy standing in the middle of 6 black men all bowing towards him. TitanTiger 22,006
I'm probably opening a can of worms, but I can at least see why some might say it's subtle racism, mainly because they would say it reinforces a stereotype that white men are leaders, managers and CEOs while black men are just the hired help. Do I think Intel set out to purposely put forth that stereotype? No. they probably just thought of the sprinter idea and grabbed some stock photos of sprinters (almost all of which are black these days) and grabbed a stock photos of some guy they thought looked like their primary customer and didn't give it a moment's thought. Ranger12 53
This is a stupid thread and Steve Dave apparently is a moron since he likes to stereotype everything and everybody. Defensive much? Have reading comprehension issues much? Trying to figure out how one could read my statement and then deduce it as being defensive is beyond me. Then again, when somebody starts a thread about stereotypes and then resorts to adoloscent playground statements such as this: I'm SO racist that I don't even see color or creed in my daily affairs. I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant. Have some of that Alabama education. I guess I should not expect much huh? So, here is your homework for tonight...learn the meaning of words and how to use them properly: de·fen·sive /dɪˈfɛnsɪv/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[di-fen-siv] –adjective 1. serving to defend; protective: defensive armament. 2. made or carried on for the purpose of resisting attack: defensive treaty; a defensive attitude. 3. of or pertaining to defense. 4. (of stocks, securities, etc.) a. able to provide moderately steady growth with minimal risk: The bank has put a large percentage of its assets in defensive rather than growth stocks. b. considered stable and relatively safe for investment, esp. during a decline in the economy. 5. excessively concerned with guarding against the real or imagined threat of criticism, injury to one's ego, or exposure of one's shortcomings. –noun 6. a position or attitude of defense: to be on the defensive about one's mistakes. 7. Obsolete. something that serves to defend. Link to comment https://www.aufamily.com/topic/39506-check-out-this-ad/#findComment-396378 Share on other sites

DKW 86 8,097
SD, honestly, all I saw in the add was the uniforms. As in, "Whose uniforms are those.?" I saw nothing racist in it until you pointed it out. Maybe the racism is in the eye of the beholder? Seriously, the repetitive use of the single sprinter clued me in that this was a thrown together ad of no real thought. AuburnChopper1 0
It's really just beyond me that these KSUfans.com users, that are plainly obvious are allowed to continue to post this on this board. When is enough enough? Everytime they're allowed to post, they get a chuckle. This isn't, or didn't used to be their type of board. Steve Dave is an adolescent KSU student that thinks he's clever by posing these ridiculous questions. I agree...don't see what this has to do with football, the south or Auburn.......Why would anyone even ask what Auburn fans think of it? Unless they had some agenda...but even then...it is just an absurd question......
