Hottest Women of the 80s

From the "I shouldn't have had that Mountain Dew at 11:30 when I haven't had a caffeinated drink in over a month file" comes the 5:15 a.m. find of "Hottest Women of the 80s"

http://www.maximonline.com/Entertainment/M...w/1894/136.aspx

The list, however, is totally bogus because it completely ignores both Stacy and Linda from Fast Times at Ridgemont High, bypasses Demi Moore in St. Elmo's Fire, doesn't mention Jamie Gertz of Lost Boys and leaves off Betsy Russell -- a delectable Godiva -- of Private School.

What were these people thinking? What was I thinking? Do the Dew. Yeah, right.

I think the key to this list is the lead-in comment that "Sadly, their popularity ended with Hammer pants."

Kelly LaBrock and Janet Jones are the only two I would even remember if the article hadn't named their movies...and those two would probably come to mind as much for their relationships with Steven Seagal and Wayne Gretsky as for anything they did. The others on the list? I just read it and already I couldn't tell you any of their names. The article should be entitled "Some hot one-hit wonders of the '80's".

I'm not saying they weren't hot (LaBrock in particular floated my boat at the time), but hottEST is a stretch.

Only Kelly LeBrock is even close to hot. The rest were forgettable by the time the credits rolled.

Where the hell is Paulina Porizkova? Any 80s list without her on it is obviously a sham.

Paulina wasn't in any 80s movies. She was just a model. If you're going just by universal hotness in the 80s, you've got to take Cindy Crawford and all the models in that George Michael video. But for sheer 80s movie hotness, it's a crime not to include Rebecca DeMornay. That scene in Risky Business where the wind was blowing. Wow.

They didn't include Kelly Preston (perhaps the most attractive female of all time) who went nude in both Secret Admirer and Mischief (as well as Spellbinder, Jerry McGuire and just about every non-Disney movie she ever made). Or Lori Laughlin (Secret Admirer). Or ONJ's summer sweet Sandy from Grease. Or former Emmanuelle Sylvia Kristel from Private Lessons. Or Courtney Thorne Smith in Summer School.

Tops of all, though, were Miss Preston:

And Misses Cates and Russell (center and right below) each breastacular in Fast Times and Private School respectively.

Funny story about I Courtney Thorne Smith. I sat next to her during the reception dinner at my brother's first wedding years ago. She was on Melrose Place at the time, which was racking up the viewers. She looked really bored, and really wasn't interested in talking to anybody else at the table. Finally, I looked over at her and asked, "Hey, weren't you in a movie several years ago titled 'Summer School' with Mark Harmon?"

She blinked, and said, "Yes, I was."

"That's great," I replied. "I thought I recognized you. What are you doing now?"

Funnily enough, after that, she was pretty friendly and chatty.

Sorry. One of Phoebe Cates' teeth outranked Paulina.

I knew a dozen girls in high school who smoked Phoebe Cates. What a yawn she is. However, nobody in the 80s could possibly hold a candle to this:

Paulina?

She has the face of a chihuahua.

Phoebe Cates' face reminds me of the Albert Alligator Pencil Sharperner I had when I was about eight years old.

hahahaaa. That was funny. I'd crawl through barbed wire and over broken glass to express my adoration for Phoebe. Today. Even if she is old and chunky now.

I never found Paulina particularly appealing. Body of a 14-year old boy. Face like a chihuahua. Oddly, I am attracted to Kate Moss which is basically the same thing.

I liked girls with a little meatishness back in the 80s. Kelly Preston was absolutely magnificent. In the pre-VCR/DVD days (yes, you young punks there was such a thing) I'd set the alarm to see Mischief on HBO. And then suffer through a generally bad movie until she busted 100% out of her duds in the all-too-brief br scene.

In that era, I was a big fan of Stephanie Seymour, Cindy Crawford, Kelly, Tawny (she aged poorly), Saundra Santiago (Gina on Miami Vice). Valerie Bertinelli, Markie Post, Mia Sara, Elle McPherson, Daisy Duke. Technically 70s, but 1977 Playmate of the Year Patti McGuire (later Jimmy Connors' wife) was awesome. And how about a little Lynda Carter?

Holy crap. Patty McGuire. Somebody we can agree on. I would have definitely sacrificed a goat to the Prince of Darkness for a shot at that.

I have to throw in Susan Anton, simply because she's a friend of my brother's. Heck, I visited her and her husband in Las Vegas two years ago after her show and she's still the babe.

I knew Phoebe in high school..I was a freshman her senior year...we were all in Professional children's School..i was there for ballet. She was doing her thing being a model a lot at that time and would come in at off times during the day (we all did that is why we were there...career first...they supplied the academics around the various endeavors we were pursuing.) She and other models and actors would come dragging into high school....not in make-up and all that jazz..looking tired and like anybody else ...you would be surprised just how normal Phoebe and other models looked! Her senior pix in the PCs yearbook simply stated.."it's been real..it's been fun...but it hasn't been real fun....Phoebe Cates." I realized at 14 and 15 just how far Hollywood and make-up and all that stuff can go after watching Phoebe and other girls in her field come dragging in out of the snow to the 7th story commons in no make-up and bundled to the max in scarves..exhausted from their schedules ...transform what we see on TV and especially in magazines and in posters. Phoebe, however was a really sweet girl who was nice to everyone (even the snooty ballet dancers)...maybe that contributed to her success!

Ok that list was horrific...the only two I mildly agree with are LeBrock and that chick from Revenge of the Nerds (and thats only because she showed her boobies, and at that tender age, ah who am I kidding I still love boobies)

That list has to include:

Cindy Morgan (Caddyshack)

cindy01.jpg

Helen Slater (Legend of Billie Jean, Secret of my Success)

Karen Kopins (Once Bitten)

Elizabeth Shue (Karate Kid, Cocktail)

Applause!!

Nice work.

Also agree on Brooke Shields. Endless Love was one of the most ridiculous movies I've ever seen, but good LORD Brooke was amazing.

To the Kat who knew Phoebe? I bow in reverence to your majesty. I adored her so much I've considered going to New York to her store just to be in the same room. Word is, she mans the cash register as many days as not. I'll keep going until she's there.

That right there, gentlemen is the day I realized I was all growed up. I saw that cover at my uncle's house and walked around in a drooling daze for probably two weeks. My head felt like it was stuffed with cotton candy. Nerves were twitching. Could not get that image out of my mind. Snuck day after day after day to just stare at the cover. Don't think I ever even opened the book then, I couldn't get past the cover. I guess I was 13, maybe just turned 14. The way that grown woman looked at me from the cover of that magazine let me know on no uncertain terms that GIRLS had the secret to everything I ever wanted to know. Girls held the key to my unending happiness in their soft little hands. And from the way she looked at me, those smoky eyes, oh lord. I knew they knew they had the key, too.

And so, like a brave knight on a quest for the king, I set out to find those girls who knew where the key to my happiness lay.

Having been a young woman in the 1980's these are only a few of the women we thought were awesome (Brooke was and is still awesome, and jamie Gertz was great in Lost Boys...she was only 16 though) A lot of the girls you guys have named I haven't really heard of...honestly, I only know Phoebe because I went to school with her...there were others there, at school, in the 1980's that have done a lot more..But from a female point of view....in the 1980's it was the supermodels like Cindy, and Farrah and the rock stars..we were just getting female rockstars then, (love Janis Joplin..would not want to look like her!) that were really talented and looked awesome...Kelly McGillis was awesome from Top Gun, those are the girls I remember...any other women have female idols they want to throw up they wanted to look like or emulate?
