BamaFanOnBeach 4
I'm a new member here, and I'm sure everyone will notice from my handle that I am a Bama fan. But I am not here because of Bama, I'm here because of Auburn. Believe it or not I like Auburn and follow them closer than some Auburn fans do (though not as close as I do Bama). I was raised a Bama fan by my dad. When time for college came I actually wanted to go to Auburn in engineering because of the ties at the time to the space program. My best friend went to Auburn (I ended up at South Alabama who doesn't have a football team) and I spent my college years going to Auburn to watch football and "almost" became a full fledged Auburn fan! I have been to as many and maybe more Auburn games than Bama games. One of the best games I've ever been to in person was at LSU when Craig led Auburn back from 3 touchdowns down to beat LSU! Both Bama and Auburn have great fans.... and those "other" fans. I promise I'm not one of those "other" fans and I hope to be able to contribute to the site - so please don't write me off too quick because of my handle.... Justin5 20
i wonder why iron bowl week is like for you. do you just wish for a well played game with no injuries, and that bama barely wins? where's the fun in that? Honestly, I generally cheer for Bama as I admit I am more of a Bama fan than Auburn fan - However, there have been years I have unquestionably cheered for Auburn such as Dubose's last year and the year Auburn went undefeated - Auburn should have played for the National Championship - period. I honestly believe Auburn was the best team in the country that year and just Auburn didn't get shafted, the whole SEC did - man can I get ribbed by fellow Bama fans when I start that argument! My dream game is for Bama and Auburn to meet with both teams undefeated - I really look forward to the Iron Bowl having National significance again... Heres to a great year for both teams!! I don't post all that much myself, but have lurked for many years. I for one enjoy most of the Alabama fans on the board. I grew up in a family that was full of Alabama alumni and fans. The two are not necessarily mutually exclusive. I was the black sheep in my family and attended Auburn and fell in love with it. . . the school, the place, the people, and consequently the athletic teams. However, I still have a place in my heart for Alabama, and sometimes find myself rooting for the Tide. . . sometimes. BamaFanOnBeach 4
Thanks for the warm welcome - I have lurked here for a little while. My 17 yr old son is a HUGE Auburn fan and is planning on going to Auburn next year. I'm sure I'll be going to Auburn games well more than Bama (if I get to a Bama game at all) while he is at Auburn. For the last couple of years we have watched most of the Bama and Auburn games together and it has been really fun jabbing at each other during the Iron Bowl (though he has had more fun than me the last five years!). I actually took him to the Iron Bowl last year (his first) and he had a blast - he told me after the game when Prothro walked out on the field before the game and the crowd went nuts it "momentarily" made him want to be a Bama fan, but he "gathered his wits" in time..... I am mainly reading up and gathering information on Auburns team this year on this site so I may not post too much at first. I am worried about the recieiving corps, the O-line, and defensive backs. In general not too worried about Auburns D though - I think they are going to be very stingy this year...
