On Saturday 8-25 the first ever Champions Challenge will be held in Montgomery at 7:00 in the Crampton Bowl. AHSAA 6A champion Pratville will be facing Georgia's North Gwinnett.

Do not wear anything you don't want stolen, do not take a lot of money or credit cards, and go in a group. Cramton Bowl is not a safe area.

Don't be hating on the Gump.

Meh. It's not a great area of town, but it's not like there are thugs and hoodlum hanging out everywhere either. Plenty of police around. Go and enjoy the game.

That said, why would you bring a bunch of money and credit cards to a high school football game anyway?

Why did you delete my insightful post????

I believe that was:

Prattville 36

N. Gwinnett 3

I live in GA now, but I'm still not sure that football is the end all like it is in Alabama.

Is N. Gwinnett a good team? I know that Prattville was holding back a lot, but I didn't know if they were just that good, or if N. Gwinnett was giving them a good game.

I am from Georgia, in fact I come from the city that holds the winngingest high school football team in the Nation, Valdosta. NG is decent, they make the playoffs every now and then but if Prattville wanted to show what its got, get a Lowndes or Brookwood or Parkview. Hell I would even accept a Buford or LaGrange. Football is massive in both states and call me a homer but I think Georgia High School football holds the edge. At Valdosta they gave a coach 3 seasons and after just taking them to the first round 1 or 2 seasons, he was gone. I know that happens here but in most cases, thats all over the state there.

NG is good but not great.

As mentioned before, the Brookswoods, Parkviews, Valdostas..etc are the stronger teams that would have been a better test for Prattville.

I live across the street from Brookwood, but grew up in SE Alabama. The football scene at Brookwood rivals what you see out in Texas. I think a lot of it is because of the amount of cash that is going into these schools and football prgrams. Does that mean that the passion is any more than what you would see in Alabama? Not really, but I would say the prgrams here tend to be bigger...and there's a ton of passion to go with it.

I would LOVE to see Prattville come up here and play Brookwood.

The schools in Texas and Georgia are also a lot bigger than the schools in Alabama. Imagine if teams like Hoover and Spain Park were one.

Meh. That's easy to say now as a State-Of-Georgia Homer now that your representative got destroyed.

Where were these sentiments in this thread in the week leading up to the game?

Go Lions!

I think Coach Clark would play anyone willing to step up. My brother went to the game and said that the score could have been almost double that if it weren't for the mistakes. So that let's me know that there is room for improvement. Maybe Prattville will have the camera's following them around........

Now that's a scary thought.

That is kind of exaggerated... I did a little bit of searching around and the enrollment numbers aren't always easy to find but here is a quick example: I chose two of the largest and most prestigious high schools in Georgia..and two of the most well known in Alabama:

Prattville (Largest Classification in Alabama): 2300 students

Hoover (Largest Classification in Alabama): 2400 students

Parkview (Largest Classification in Georgia): 2600 students

Walton (Largest Classification in Georgia): 2600 students

Spain Park does only have 1400 students, but if you would combine Hoover and Spain Park...it would dwarf most of the Georgia High Schools.

Also, some Alabama High Schools are 10-12 whereas Georgia ones are 9-12 which can throw the numbers off when trying to compare them.

True, but unless things have changed ALOT from when I grew up in Alabama, the amount of resources (money) that goes into these schools are enormous compared to Alabama schools. I wish it wasn't. Believe me, I really want Alabama schools to provide the best education and facilities to the kids of Alabama. I promise you I’m no Georgia homer.

Also, I could say they same thing about combining Parkville and Brookwood together. They are very close to each other.

BTW, I wanted Prattville to win.
