Auburn vs. Florida on ESPNU

The announcers have mentioned more than once that Tray didn't know where to line up some of the time, but gave maximum effort on every play. Tuberville made the exact same comments after this game.... Kinda makes you wonder if that's why we moved him to MLB, doesn't it? "Yeah, Tray, just look around and if you see a LB on your left and a LB on your right, you're okay." :)

27 points and no offensive TDs...that still boggles the mind.

At halftime, I was fretting over the missed opportunities for TDs that turned into FGs...the special teams TD really swung the momentum our way.

Rule question:

If a QB throws the ball (forward) and it ends up behind him, is it a fumble? I think people failed to realize that the throw still went backwards. I just want to make sure I know what I am talking about before I (we) hear the excuses in Gainesville next month.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have a friend who still says we "cheated." All I say is that I would have been afraid of Tray and dropped the ball too.

If the initial direction of the ball is forward, its a forward pass. After looking at the play again(have it on the harddrive) it could have easily been ruled a backwards pass. However, the ball fell out of his hand, and I don't see how anybody could see it any other way. Except gator fans of course. It was a fumble. CTT summed it up pretty good at the end of the game saying: "well, if it hadn't been a fumble it would have been grounding".

just look at the 4th quarter `end around sweep' by Florida if u want to see LBOH giving it 110%..he plastered Leak and raced downfield and nearly made the tackle...this game should've been a blowout! Take away a few miscues and missed blocking assignments and AU wins going away! :cheer:

That's a little generous. I've never seen someone throw the ball out the side of their hand. It didn't come out the front (or the back). It seemed like it just popped out sideways while he was dancing around.

People also forget that was THIRD DOWN. Even if they recover, they have to bring in Chris, who sprayed his FG attempts around like they were 2 irons.

End result, they still lose the game.

first, you need to get better friends. <_<

secondly, ask this person how we could "cheat". All our kids did was play football and if the ball is loose you go after it. Let the officials decide what happens. Not exactly sure how we or any other team could "cheat". It's all good though, they just couldn't bring themselves to admit we were the better team. sound familiar??

First, if a QB throws a ball and it ends up behind him, it's an incomplete pass. The phrase that boggles me on your part is:

I think people failed to realize that the throw still went backwards.

What throw were you referring to? Look at the game again...

If you have a DVR and you recorded that.... replay it over and over. You'll find that Chris never "threw the ball." Chris wanted to throw, but a .5 second later you see Tray Blackmon jumping... upon that instinct, he holds onto the ball in a throwing motion. Pause it right when Blackmon comes down... you'll see the ball never leave's Chris's hands yet at a split second later you'll see Tray swats it away.

It was reviewed as well.

Fumble.

What I do have to mention, after viewing that replay, was how many times we blew opportunities in the Red Zone. What's more, while our OL did a good job opening holes for the RBs, their pass protection broke down a lot that game. Mind you, I realize that we were playing the eventual national champions, but there were just way too many sacks in that game at crucial junctures.

not true. If the QB is standing on his 40 yard line and throws the ball out to, say, a RB coming out of the backfield and that RB is standing on his own 38 and the RB mishandles it and drops it, you say thats an incomplete pass?? I mean, the QB threw it and it ended up behind him, so you would blow the whistle there and signal incomplete pass??? WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.

Not true either. That ball was out of leaks hand before blackmon hit the ball.

Nah, he's a good guy. I'm trying to show him the light though. I'm sure he's just still stinging over tha a** whipping.

I was assuming he meant that the QB had a frontward throwing motion (as he was relating it to the current topic) to begin with... not the same motion as in a backwards pass... obviously that's a fumble.

Secondly, I disagree... the ball was not out of Leak's hand.

OH the ball was CLEARLY out of his hand. Leak was going to throw it, then Blackmon showed up and he changed his mind, he tried to tuck it back in, and it rolled off his hand, THEN BLackmon hit the ball CLEARLY AFTER it was loose. I've got it on my harddrive and can slow it down frame by frame and i assure you that ball was LOOSE BEFORE blackmon touched it.

agree..the call was bad....AUburn fans should be honest and admit we've benefitted from bad calls before....Arkansas was the exact opposite.

If IR was in place in 2004 Auburn LOSES to LSU. :( T. Daniels had pssession of Mix's fumble inbounds just before the famous TD pass....hate to say it....

course IR blew the 2006Iron Bowl `reception' by Bama as well.

Oh I'll shut up! :roflol:

IF David Irons holds onto the INT we're not even mentioning `the play'..
