Tuberville also was quick to point out that the team excelled in several facets of special teams, both during drills at the start of practice and again during the team drills.

"One of the strengths we've had the last few days has been our kicking game," said Tuberville. "I've been real pleased with our kickers, punters and returners. We've got to do it in a game, but we've made a lot of improvement the last three weeks. It's been fun to watch these guys compete and get better."

I know its a cliche, but special teams and defense win games. I have been more concerned about this area than any other (especially after A-day). This is HUGE news.

Well all I know is they better get the job done. They let the best high school punt/kick prospect in the SE slip through their fingers. His name is Chandler Anderson from Shaw High in Columbus. I hand delivered him and they kind of yanked his chain because they had wasted a scholly on Kutch a couple of years ago. They wouldn't even offer a grey shirt although he out kicked everyone they had including Bynum. He does it all.He wanted to play at AU but G Tech came calling with free ride in hand. He will redshirt because they have an All American punter now. By the way Chan has a hang time avg. over 5.2 sec. He has wowed even the current punter at Tech.

...and think of all that GREAT food he can now get @ the Varsity! I don't think there's ANYTHING in college footbal harder to predict than how a kicker will do in important game situations. The list of "can't miss kids" that don't pan out because their heads don't match their kicking skills is enormous. I'll go w/ Tubbs judgment re. recruits.

Were you part of the process involving this kid? You are absolutely ignorant of what he can or can't do. He kicked off the ground for two seasons to prepare for college. He currently outperforms anyone AU has and outpunts the ALL-ACC/American kid Tech has. Do you want me to recount how many eggs Tubbs has recruited?Matt Kutch=KICKER being one. By the way all coaches get fooled on prospects but you have gorged yourself on kool-aid and can't listen to reason. My point is this kid was dying to go to AU and they yanked his chain trying to get him to come as an invited walk-on. His dad is a Sgt. in Iraq and they live in Ga. He would have had to pay out of state tuition that they couldn't afford. Then they got all upset when he took Techs offer(no-brainer). An offer of a grey-shirt would have sealed the deal. They wanted the kid to take all the gamble when every schlarshio offered is a gamble. They mismanaged their schollies. Need a rundown? Hey, and I like Eddie Gran but they blew it. After he got to Tech AU called him daily. Sorry. If you claim that the kicking game is of such importance as Tubbs does, then back it up. Quit trying to play old-school scholarship games with these kids. Oh, the kid is an honor student, runs the 40 in 4.55, throws the ball like a bullet and could be a wide-out or db. He never had a kick returned for a score. Tech is already putting in some special packages for his skills. They have never seen a kicker with his athleticism.NOW, I'll get off my soap box.

Oh Yeah...... Well if Coach would've put me in at QB, we would've won State. I can throw the ball a Quarter Mile, I can throw it out of the Stadium. The fact is, they probably didn't have a Scholarship available and Coach Tubs hasn't really Greyshirted a lot of players. They say Kutch has been clocked with a 3.9 40. Anyway, Good Luck to the kid at GT.
