My insignificant thoughts

Yes, I've been absent from this here board for a while, but, seeing as how it's football season, thought it was time to check in on my Auburn brethren and sistren.

Alas, I'm left chilly by what I read.

"Bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch, ad infinitum."

Doods and Doodettes, we're 1-0, I've not felt a SINGLE chunk of sky on my noggin', and we're moving up in the polls. We played a Big 12 team Saturday night. A Big 12 team that went to a bowl last year and may go to a bigger, better bowl this year.

And they scared the heck out of you and me.

But, when push came to proverbial shove, our Tigers rose to the occasion. Brandon Cox rose. Gabe McKenzie rose. Quentin Groves rose.

That's three damn key risers!

When I cast my Auburn-all-my-life (since the day I entered this world) eyes on that beautiful new south endzone scoreboard when the clock hit 0:00, it read --- and tell me if you saw different --- Auburn 23, Kansas State 13.

I screamed a couple loud War Eagles, slapped some high fives, went back to my tailgate and had a beer.

I didn't think about struggling offensively. I didn't think Brandon was off all night. I didn't think perhaps our o-line wasn't what it was cracked up to be. I didn't wonder why Savage, Blackmon and Wilhite were on the sideline the whole second half.

I lifted my Bud Light to my lips at regular intervals and thought, "It's GREAT to be an Auburn Tiger!"

And I guess I always will.

Now ... let's beat the hell out of South Florida!

War Damn and all that!

Couldn't have said it better myself. War Damn Eagle

Aside from retching when he mentioned the Bud Light, I thought it was a good post as well.

Dood, it's the beer to have when you're having more than 20 (which is what I used to say about --- and get the gag reflex ready --- Schaeffer when I was an AU student).

And it was an all-day tailgate!

Can't an AU brother get a break?

Now, if you want to pony up for some Chimay, well, I'm definitely there!

Life's too short to drink s***ty beer. :big:

Quality over quantity, my friend.

And your favorite?

Dang. Too many to choose from. Some I like:

Newcastle

Blackstone Nut Brown Ale

Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout

Hacker Pschorr Weiss

A beer snob that doesn't mention --- though it's difficult to get --- Chimay?!?

You're quite the unsophisticated beer snob!

There are half a zillion microbrews and craft brewers out there. Though I've tried and enjoyed far more than most people, I know I've only scratched the surface. Which is why being a beer snob is going to be so enjoyable for me over the next few decades. So many beers, so little time.

True. Chimay, brewed by trappist Monks for quite some time, is wonderful. Find some and enjoy.

That said, Bud Light's my gameday beer and I remain unashamed. I love microbrewed beers and I've enjoyed them in my travels across the land. Yet, if it's gameday, it's Bud Light day.

Most importantly, if I'm drinking Dom Perignon or horse piss, I still love my Tigers!

(Granted, horse piss is a little oaty for my taste.)

Chimay is overpriced and overrated. I prefer every beer Titan lists (except I don't think I've had the Hacker) to Chimay...and to Bud Light. B)

And I respect that (though I still like Chimay and Bud Light --- and Newcastle and Bass Ale and Montgomery Brewing Co. stout).

I wasn't the one that threw the first beer missile. I was just loving my Tigers. The mention of Bud Light was an accurate representation of my post-game reflection.

We're here because of the guys in the blue jersies. In this case, we're easily damned (and distracted) by the details.

I lift no nose in disdain at anyone that eats, drinks, or posts other than I. Even the AU Nation is diverse. And diversity --- be it based on beer tastes, race, sex, sexual preference, manicure, pedicure, hometown or hobbies --- is a good thing.

And it's STILL great to be an Auburn beer-swizzling Tiger.

"Here's to good friends, the night is kinda special..."

I've never gotten the Crown Royal thing. I love me some good bourbon, but Crown just isn't in that category. I think the name and advetising is what draws people in. "Hey, it's Crown Royal, it must be good."

Maker's Mark

1792

Woodford Reserve

Beers:

Newcastle

Heiney

Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale

Light Beers:

Bud Light

Michelob Light

Coors Light is great if you love having a horse P in your mouth.

Blasphemy! Coors Light is like riding a silver train of taste, I wish I could make ice cubes out of it and ski on it during the winter. Then, during the summer melt it and drink it!

More like a yellow stream of equine tinkle. Now get out of law school, pass the bar, make some money and get some real beer. You too, can become a beer snob.
