AU Tyler 0
I know this is probably too soon to ask, but who will likely start next year as quarterback? Is it too soon to tell? (I know there is always time to improve from now until then) Is there anyone else in the mix other than Blake Field and Cody Burns? (I don't memorize rosters like some of you hardcore fans) That being said, who would you WANT to be QB next year? War Eagle -Tyler
ATLauburnfan 0
I think that its going to be a very close race between Kodi, Caudle, and Field for who gets the starting job... Kodi will win, Kodi will start next year. I think that its going to be a very close race between Kodi, Caudle, and Field for who gets the starting job... Kodi will win, Kodi will start next year. AUman43 5
Normally, I would say that starting a freshman QB would be suicide. I still believe that but considering the fact that Tubs burned his Red Shirt early, they MUST work him into the offense and give him plenty of reps early on to avoid wasting a year. Look for either Caudle or Field to start early and for Borges to work Cody in fast as possible. Much of this depends upon how fast Cody picks up the offense. autiger4life 3
It's going to Caudle for the start. PF just reported it from credible sources.
weglchamp 0
Maybe Field could be the starter and we can use Burns in more of the role we envisioned this year and never really lived up to. Red Zone, Short yardage, change of pace, (maybe let him throw the ball) That would also allow Burns to ready the following year to be THE MAN
eibua12 81
Technically Kodi can still have a redshirt year, but if we are going to waste them I expect all 3 to play with Blake being the starting in Spring.... The horse race is open so study up as the difference will be the ability to read defenses and react

TheDrewYouKnew 3
Kodi would obviously be the best choice for Auburn long term, and probably short term too. But based on the history of our coaching staff, I am once again confident that we will not start the best player. It will require booing for the other guy and chanting "Kodi" to get him to become the starter after W.Va beats us. Remember when Tre Smith "started"? mcgufcm 3,982
Remember when Kenny Irons admitted he had no idea what the blocking schemes were? Maybe that was just me. Anyway, as for this question, Blake's the best guess. Big arm. Time in the offense. Slightly more experience. Caudle is the wildcard because he's a talented guy that won the backup job last fall (before getting injured for the 19th time in his short career). Anyone who says they know what to expect from him is a liar. Kodi is the guy I'm pulling for because he diversifies the offense, and if he wins, it will be because he knows the offense. Borges has raved about how smart he is. Add that to his ability to throw the deep ball, his ability to bring back the option (like we had with Jason), and you've got a diverse offense. So that's what I want to see, but I do trust the coaches to give us a guy who can win games.

What were his other options? Think people... Kenny didn't know the schemes, Lester had a bad hamstring, and Trey was Da' Man. Unless you remember something I don't. Fmnstr 0
if we're still using kodi as a change of pace qb, we aren't doing the kid right. he's a smart kid. he'll learn the offense. he definitely needs offseason work, though. i watched him underthrow about half a dozen passes in warmups saturday. DCWarEagle 0
If Kodi cn have a good offseason, I'd like to see him as the starter. I think he has the most potential, and he has the most eligibility left. If we start Field, then we are going to have to "rebuild" again in a year. subterranean_jack 112
Based on recent history, it is going to be the QB who most likely will make the fewest mistakes. I think this role best fits Field. I don't think it will be the best athlete or the one with the strongest arm.
AURoadhouse09 0
The QB that best fits Borges offence would be KB, BUT if he continues to be inaccurate Fields and Caudle should have an intence battle for the starting job. Who ever is starting Qb I think will have a shot leash, cuz he's got 2 Qbs waiting for their chance
