If Tuberville is indeed making a ploy to get better facilities at Auburn, then why the hell is Auburn being so pig-headed about it. It would seem that he would be pushing for better facilities to help with recruiting. I'm sorry, but Jay Jacobs has to be the worst AD in the SEC. I'm so tired of the good old boy network at Auburn, it's all about having power, not what's best for Auburn. I love Auburn with all of my heart and soul, but I hate the factions that control Auburn. The Athletic program and the University would be so much better off if some of these tyrants would back off and do what is best for Auburn, not thier overinflated egos.

Yada, yada, yada. If you had even a small clue what was really going on you wouldn't post such stuff as this. Read your post. You ask an "if" question then proceed to run down people as if it were factual.

I had a former Auburn player tell me that "there is no way we can compete against this" as we were walking through the UA football building.

Auburn does need upgrades to their facilities. There's no denying that fact. If Tuberville is stringing this situation out to get them, he may be smarter than most give him credit for.

Was he 70? I just looked through the pictures of Alabama's football facilities, and I have to say that they aren't that much better the Auburn's. Bama has an astonishing trophy area. The Auburn museum is nice, but I'd take that display over the museum any day.

But as for the lockerroom and training room, Auburn is upgrading theirs in January. I don't expect it to be anything less than impressive.

And as for the weightroom that I've heard so much about, it looks almost identical to Auburn's - just newer. If AU got new weights and hired a cleaning crew, it'd be just as nice.

I actually think the team meeting rooms in Auburn is nicer than Bama's. Bama's looks like an average classroom.

Was he 70?

No. He played last season. Started, in fact.

Know that there are several areas of our facilities that are not pictured on the net. Just FYI.

Guys explain to me why facilities seem to be such a sticking point with CTT. I was under the impression AU had very nice facilities.

Didn't AU do a multi-million dollar facilities upgrade under Tuberville a few years ago? Am I confusing AU with someone else?

Well, the only facility that needs improvement is the indoor practice field. It's very nice - very modern. But it's ony 30 yards with an endzone. Most schools, at least big time programs, have 100 yard indoor practice fields. At least that's what I'm told. Tuberville very much wants a 100 yard indoor practice facility.

And the weight room is a good weight room, but it's getting a little worn.

On the practice field, is it something they could just add on to and extend? Or would they need to scrap it and build a whole new one?

For some reason, I can't find any pictures of Auburn's facilities.

To answer you question, I'm not totally sure about the details of a project like that. But, the outdoor practice facilities are right behind the indoor field. So, they're going to have to do a lot in order to get a 100 yard field out there. Now, there is some room closer to the nearby road. There's a ditch/canal of some sort that they could fill in to create more room. It's cramped, that's for sure. Who knows what they could come up with, but I'm sure it can be done.

For profitability, Auburn is one of the top ten programs in the country, netting close to $40 million annually. That's NET, not GROSS.

Why the heck can't we skim some of that off the top and pump into upgraded facilities?

Facilities are like an arms race. If you are not constantly upgrading then you are moving backwards.

The 100 yd facility will be built where the old track was. We built a new track behind the soccer fields a few years back and the old track has been left as is in case we made a decision to build a bigger indoor facility. Tubs has now forced that issue to the forefront, but we had held that land for that purpose for a few years now. In the past Tommy said himself he saw no need for a 100 yd facility, but now it has become a recruiting issue rather than just a place to practice so we need one now.
