AUTiger1 0
Little Nicky does have good character, aight? He takes those promises that he makes to players mothers serious, aight? He is an honest man, b/c that's part of the process, aight? That boy that got arrested and didn't get kicked off the team, well, it is what it is, aight? I can't believe that kid actually said that. I'm not claiming CTT to be a saint by any means, but "he'll look out for you and stuff". He looks out for one thing and one thing only and that is himself and stuff. And bottom line, Nick Saban recruiting for us certainly didn't hurt last year. Okay, his perception is that, if Coach $ tells his momma that he'll be "Taken Care Of", he can do Anything he wants and still be able to play on Saturdays just as long as he isn't a Scout Teamer, doesn't get kicked out of school or worse, because of his Off-Field actions. So, as long as you have Plasma TVs and Game Systems in the Field House, Locker Room, and/or Weight Room, you'll have a chance to sign this guy. Sounds like a hard worker to me. Also, I LOVED how he threw his High school OL under the bus when he said, "I haven't really had (people blocking for me) in high school so I'm looking for that in college." Being a former Lineman, I'd say F*** OFF...and you thought we haven't blocked for you the past couple years...wait 'til this season, good luck finding lanes Prima Donna. He's probably really nervous! And folks on here (who I'm sure are just shining lights of public speech) are dogging him for using the word "stuff" too much?? Are you kidding? Most people, MOST people, have speech ticks (ie. "like," "um," "I mean," "you know," "aight," etc.), and those ticks are usually accentuated when you get nervous. GEEZ, cut the kid some slack. As for the X-Box thing, you might want to back track on that. I'd be willing to be we have game systems available for guys in the dorms and probably 95% of our players (if not more) play video games all the time. It's part of the culture. Get over it. kt7185 0
Come on Runs, when you think of St. Nick is character the first word that comes to mind? How about when you think character, is keeping a promise to someone more important than doing your job and keeping your players in line. I really don't think we are worried about losing this guy; how could you recruit someone that is crazy? If he is dumb enough to think Satan is a character guy then you guys can have him. It may win you recruiting NC and a most people to show up at an a-day game NC, and maybe even a MNC, but in reality, you still have a coach that is out for number one and in the real reality, lacks character. SouthLink02 8
I think both Bama fans and Auburn fans have a point Bama fans have a point that he is one HELL of a recruiter. He is SMART at recruiter. He works his ASS OFF at recruiting. And well, let's be honest....he is very good at bringing in talent With that said, Auburn fans are correct in that he is a miserable person, a prick, and not a coach that you will bond with after recruiting is over. I lost count the number of times a specific LSU player told me that players were annoyed at Saban's open-door policy which was....well, not open. He is also someone you DIDN'T bring problems too and frankly, Saban only wanted answers/results on the field and let the off-the-field problems (education stuff) be dealt with advisors, etc.... Now, to be fair....as much of a ***** as Saban was.....he got the players at LSU working hard and as much as they hated him....it did work and LSU is where they are today because of that pain in the ass system. LSU pre-Saban was NOT the LSU it is today. Even with DiNardo's #1 recruiting class in '97 I believe which sucked anyway

You have to bring the talent in. You have to coach them too. Saban has proven he can do both in the SEC and now he is beginning to do it at Alabama. The first step is bringing in the type talent you need to do the things you are trying to do. It will take time. He's only had one season. No coach at any program is hired to be a nice guy or loveable. They are hired to win games. That's bottom line at any school. I'm sure he's not the only jerk in the head coaching ranks. I don't know about his open door policy. I'm sure there are plenty of other coaches who have very similar policies. Coaches, advisors and other people that are in thoses roles do things differently. I wonder what some of those players would say if you asked them if the experience playing for Saban was good and it helped them grow as a person and player? Was the success they experienced worth it or a good thing? Probably a mixed responce. I also wonder if they had a chance to do it again, knowing how he was, would they play for him again? Ask some of the players who were on some of the championship teams he recruited and coached.
SouthLink02 8
But again, I will say this Saban has yet to stay anywhere for a long time and I think his "system" and the way he is personally is a big reason why I find it HILARIOUS to hear any LSU fans bash Saban when he was....a GOD down here at the time he was their coach....with that said, many...many....many around him HATED HIM....admin at school and even some assist coaches but his WINNING caused them to shut it and take it without complaining But, like the players.....Saban just doesn't care....everyone can hate him but as long as they work hard and get their jobs done, he is fine I think that system can work BUT after a few years....it can strain on people That is the reason so many assistants do not stay with Saban Only so much you can take But, I am sure Bama fans will take his LSU success so.....more power to them

I'm sure rational LSU fans would admit that it is worth the trade out. With all the problems Bama has had in the last 10 years or so, most fans are more than ready for a hard nosed, straight up buisness approach. It's been a long, long time since this program has had any real disipline or direction. That's why so many Bama fans are so willing to accept, and welcome, the no BS approach Saban brings. Like him or not he is what this program needed. At this time it is a very good fit. However you're right. At some point there will be some wear by the admin and fan base. As a fan who has had to watch the poorly run program it is a welcome situation to be in. Most of us will take it. His personality is a by product that I'm willing to deal with. Quite frankly I don't care much for the media so him not taking any crap and playing games with them is a plus for me. Most could agree that they don't deserve to be coddled, especially considering the unprofessional way they have handle their buisness as of late. So, what's going to happen if Coach $abahr doesn't produce On the field? From the looks of it, he has surround himself with great Recruiters...but, are they great coaches? I think that remains to be seen. If they aren't great coaches, then his "system" will Flop. He has surrounded himself with great recruiters, thats certainly a good thing. You're right, if they can't coach there will be some very bad problems. Like you said though ''that has yet to be seen'' Remember, it's only been one year and there needs to be more time. One thing is for sure, he's done this before so I'm pretty confident in his abilities to surround himself with solid coaches. He's had great success at this level. Will Muschamp was on his staff along with many other quality coaches. His track record is very solid. There is nothing to suggest that what he does and how he does it won't be just as successfull now as it has been. Remember no one thought he would recruite here like he did at LSU. Also, the excuse that play time is what did it is funny. Yes it was a selling point but that is just one of them. This year isn't something new. He's had recruiting success year in and year out. Even when he couldn't sell early play time. My question would be what's going to happen if he does do it. Installs the system, allow time for the players and coaches to tune it up and puts a championship team on the field. I know there will be excuses by some rivals. No guarantees but, I'll take the chances with Saban and his attitude. His track record proves his system works and he can do it. My opinion is he will be very successfull here and we will win an SECC in a couple years. That's certainly the first step.
