Gridiron Bash gets Cancelled....

HA! HA!

yes, the company doing it canceled the event at all 16 campuses that it was to take place at. one of the schools was UT. they had planned to have players attend the events and concern came up that there may be some NCAA infractions if that happened. the company decided that it isn't much of a pep rally without players there.

and btw, that means one of those 16 schools that would have gotten $1 million dollars to go into a scholarship fund now will not get that. yes, SO hilarious! i bet if some of that scholarship money would have gotten your child into somewhere on a free ride it wouldn't be so funny.

HA! HA!

So you think when a company that put millions of dollars into something that would have been great for hundreds of thousands of fans...and a million dollar scholarship to some school...all going away because of a technicality...and people probably losing their jobs...its funny.

I'll tell you what, you're all class. All class.

It got cancelled because a member institution in the SEC waited until the last week to "raise a concern"...they KNEW that it was in the bylaws of the SEC that if any school raises a flag, then there has to be a formal investigation. Knowing that wouldn't give the SEC and the lawyers time to have it cleared up before the event, MSL would have to cancel.

The thing is legit and the "question" that was raised was just sour grapes. And it ruined it for everybody.

And before you ask, no I don't have a link. By virtue of being part owner of Fanspoll and working with MSL every day I know some of the stuff that goes on up there.

No it wasn't Auburn that raised the flag either. Auburn was all but signed for the GI Bash before the backed out because of logistics considering how early their spring game was.

Seriously though, was it the schools resposibility to tell the NCAA or the MSL people what they were planning to do with their players? Because, I'm sure that each of the 16 teams were going to present the Bash differently. And if players are involved, and being that it could've been an NCAA Violation, then why in Hell didn't the school(s) that were going to involve the players say, "you know what...let's just have the concert, without involving the players." I'm not really sure what exactly the Bylaws, according to the NCAA, say about an Organization putting something together involving the players, but I would think the insitution(s) that were going to do it probably knew or should've known.

Then why don't you tell your ill informed fanbase that? B/c from what I've seen and heard, you are the first uat fan to state that. And no, I don't need a link to show you that, because I'm sure you've heard nearly the same things.

I have told them on BOL. I think it's common to blame your primary enemy. Especially when not armed with the facts.

Gridiron Bash Events Canceled at College Campuses

Gridiron Bash, a series of concerts and football promotions at 16 college campuses, has been canceled because of a dispute with the NCAA. Alan Jackson, Dwight Yoakam, Montgomery Gentry, Taylor Swift, Dierks Bentley, Wynonna, ZZ Top, Fergie, John Legend and Maroon 5 were among the acts scheduled to participate. The events, all scheduled the day before spring football games, were to include tailgating zones, a pep rally, a final team practice and a concert. MSL Sports and Entertainment, the company promoting the events, said the decision to postpone Gridiron Bash came after an NCAA interpretation that limited the participation of student athletes in promoting the events and receiving free tickets. According to the NCAA, MSL did not contact the NCAA regarding compliance until last week. Gridiron Bash was scheduled to begin Saturday (April 4) at LSU in Baton Rouge, La., with a concert featuring Kid Rock and Sara Evans. Other events were scheduled in Alabama, Arizona, Iowa, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Colorado, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Tennessee, Utah and West Virginia.

I had no clue what you guys were even talking about. So here's what I found.

So it was MSL's fault for not contacting the NCAA. Way to go MSL...blame it on someone else when it was YOU that didn't contact the NCAA until ONE WEEK before it was going to happen. The MSL knew about doing the Bash for how long?

Again......HA! HA!

Good luck trying to get the Mullet Nation to fork over their hard earned Natty Lite cash, Again.

Heard on the radio, yesterday, that Culman was taking the tickets back and reimbursing the Turds with cash.

Guess we'll have to wait and see if this AAFL Event gets off the ground again.

if you bought tickets at the ticket office, you get a cash refund. if you bought tickets with a card, it will be credited back. so not everybody gets a cash refund. not sure why thats of any concern to you....or did you buy tickets? :)

I've got 2 unopen bottles maybe one day we can share a few shots. If you like that, for something really different try the Cask No. 16. It's aged in a cognac cask. I'm not a cognac fan but I opened a bottle on last Friday and Sunday night it was gone. It was wonderful.

I'm more of a Makers or Woodford Reserve and Sprite type guy. That's when I'm not hammering back my White Russians.

not a huge cognac fan, but i've been meaning to try the Cask No. 16. i think out of all of them, the Special Reserve is the smoothest. the XR doesn't seem all that much different from regular Crown, it just gets you more messed up with less. but i can almost drink the Special Reserve like its water and it still gets you pretty messed up.

I drank Natural Light in college and am proud of it

You should be.

Now, I don't anymore but it is a solid gameday choice, imo.

Blech.
