It's amazing how far percussion has come in the last 20 years. I got out of the marching aspect of it about 15 years ago when the kevlar heads and floating rims were just starting to really show up. Let me tell you the rebound you get off those drums is awesome. Nothing like the older stuff I grew up playing. These indoor groups that have started to take off in the last 5-10 years are something to see, I can tell you they put in lots of practice time to get the precision they have achieved. It all sends chills through my body.
