CCTAU 3,494
Some guy mentioned three red rings. He said he got ti fixed and while waiting, just bought a new one. Now he doesn't need the old one. We need to get one to send to Afghanistan to my son while he's there. What are the pitfalls of buying one used?
AUJarhead 70
I'm not sure how Microsoft's extended Warranty covers used ones, but I'd check the build date on the back, and make sure it's a newer one. If it has an HDMI input, I think it's a newer one, and might be safer. The red rings seemed to happen with the older ones, although I have a launch 360 and have never had a problem with it. AURaptor 1,137
Microsoft fixed my old xbox after it stopped reading disc. It's worked great ever since, and that's been 4+ yrs.

I have bought used electronics before and have both got burned and got great deals. If you trust the guy, and it's a good price then buy it. If you aren't for sure, I would try game stop (www.gamestop.com) and check out what they have. Last time I looked they had one with a wired controller for about $200. Oh, Tell your son thanks for his service. How is they young lad by the way?

Been there for about 4 weeks. He goes to the Sargent's board next month. Tent living is not the life. At least in Iraq he had a room with high speed wireless. Hopefully his tour will go quickly. He thinks it will go even quicker with a 360. Thanks for all the advice. It looks like Microsoft will take care of it if the seal is not broken and the problem is covered. I'll look around and see if I can't find someone who is just tired of theirs.
