Athlon

Suprised to see us so high. I think it speaks loads for our program that we can completely overhaul our offense and swith defensive coaches and still be ranked highly.

And even more suprised to see LSU ranked behind us at #9...Does this have to do with Perrilloux or is someone actually seeing the potential of our team?

This is a bit scary. We've been mentioned a bit this offseason, but our stock seems to be rising for some reason.

The only reason it is scary is that we really have no idea how good (or bad) we will be. Yet, Athlon ranks us 8th????

Auburn's stock is rising because LSU's is falling and pretty much everybody is picking the Tigers or the Tigahs to win the West.

Having seen initial glimpse of our new offense in the Chick-fil-a Bowl and a more refined showing in the A Day game, I think we'll be plenty good to deserve the ranking :cheer::au::cheer:

Good call. I think that has everything to do w/ it. Our "new QB" already has 2 touchdowns while splitting time in this "new offense", against a good defense, in a major bowl game. And we're returning the entire offensive line he did it behind.

And CTT has proven that DC turnover at Auburn doesn't really matter much.

Somebody please tell me that June and July will be short months this year.

I hate to be too positive this early before the season, but I think we deserve to be number 8.I think the defense will be tough as ever, not only that but I think they will be smarter under CPR not just emotional.Furthermore I think the offense can't go anywhere but up.Our offense won't be a weakness anymore but a great threat.Yeah we'll probably make the occasional bone-head mistake but this offense will be highly aggressive as any good O should be. I see us putting up 28 points on ANYBODY.When Auburn can score this much ,we can, and will beat you.

I must admit to a large "grin" and a silent "Amen" after reading this post.

I picked up Athlon the other day. I've only gotten through about half of it but noticed it's a little more up to date than in years past. Usually, they've got guys on the depth chart who may have transferred or been injured or beaten out in the spring. They had the Ryan Marylou situation factored in and he didn't get kicked off that long ago, relatively speaking.

It seems most sports media outlets really focused more on the spring practice/games this year so publications like Athlon are far more current with their coverage. They've got UF #1 and UGA at #5 (I think) so they must think the Florida curse over the Dawgs will resume.

Yes, we're #8. But shouldn't we expect rankings like this in CTT's 10th year? Just shows where he's put this program.

3. October 4th...........I live in Nashville, and have waited 3 years for us to play here!

4. Beating Bama for the 7th time in a row!

5. Being on the plains.......those little shorts with Auburn on the Butt, Beer, Barbeque, and more beer, watching my Tigers, Rolling Toomers, nearly getting arrested b/c of to many beers.........Ahhhhhh

Not that I'm counting any chickens yet for either game, but dont' forget: If the Football Gods are kind, Bama will lose to Clemson (our bowl victim) on the same day!

#8 is about where we'll be by season's end, but I have a feeling this will be one rollercoaster year.

2009 is our year baby!
